I made it out for 2.5 hours today...I have been on them hard for the last 4 or 5 trips and threw back a bunch before i decided to keep a these. One fish was just short of 15, with a few 13 inchers thrown in.

Wow! You aren't the guy that was way out from the dam are you? We fished about three hours (blue Clam Tamarack) off the dam. I had a couple of light strikes; hubby caught two crappie - one legal. He threw it back since it was skinny. Just as well considering the lack of fish thereafter. Fingers crossed conditions hold for next weekend.

Made the long walk out to mid lake today...Fish were not crushing the lure like yesterday but it was solid action again. I ended up with a limit of crappies. Largest was 13.75 and 13 even. The rest were between 12 and 10.5 inches. The new snow made it a bear to pull out there and back..roughly a mile each way. Here is a picture of my fish popsicles....

I went out 2 times today...the first time out I found a large school of white bass...I caught over 25 and they were a mixed bag of medium to really large...couldnt get past the white bass to catch any crappies. Went back out from 4:45 to 6:30 and then found the crappies. I ended up with 18 keepers..with about 6 throwbacks. I have been finding the active fish roving along drops..generally between 23 and 30 feet. bottom content changes make it even better.

I went out yesterday. I walked out to open water and caught at least 40 crappie that were 8 to 9.5, a cat fish, anda few white bass. Then I went closer to the parking lot. Caught about 50 white bass and a bunch more crappie that were just shy of 9 ".
Ended up with 10 crappie that were 9.5 to 11" and about 15 white white bass.
I used multiple jigs and lures. They hit everything I threw at them. But the chartreuse cicada was absolutely deadly.
I easily caught over my limit on keeper crappie, but I try to keep them if they are over 9.5".

Went out this morning roughly 100 yards off shore and caught
Fish basically for about 4 hours straight. I threw back
Roughly 60 crappies that averaged 10 inches. I did not
Keep count of the white bass but probably threw back about
Half That many. The whites ran around 13 inches. Yesterday I caught
About the same amount but also caught a couple
Keeper walleyes. Nothing huge both just shy of 16 inches. Needless to
Say fishing is good. Earlier in the week the crappies were much
Bigger (quite a few over 12 inches) but the last few days I have seen
Smaller fish come in.

I saw Bruce..way out on the lake...Bruce you worked hard for those fish! I cheated, I found them close to shore. If you were fishing what I think you were fishing, it runs the length of the lake..follow it west and see how close to shore it runs   ;) sorry I did not get to call you and meet up...this work thing is trying to interfere with my ice fishing..its getting out of hand :)

I plan on heading out tomorrow after I get off work at 7. My truck is loaded, so I should be there by 8ish.
Fishman, I am in it for the adventure. Lol. It was a blast out there when they were biting every drop. I had a great time when I fished in close with the group after the looking walk back in.
If you are out tomorrow, I will see you there

actually I thought the fishing was decent today, me and 2 buddys from ogf.com caught about 30 short crappies and 13 keepers, and about a dozen white bass from tiny to 4 between 11" -13" a few tiny perch and 1 decent gill and a small channel , all near the dam area.  caught on a little of everything, ice jigs  and spikes seemed to be the best, tons more lookers  and you had to work them hard to get them to bite, best ones were the ones about 3 or more feet off the bottom, they seemed to hit better.

Ok guys I have never fished cj but am seriously thinking of coming down. Would anyone want to meet up and fish? I may go to kiser but not sure.I have heard good reports on both lakes. I have my own gear and know how to fish just kinda would like some direction on a new lake. Everything is dead up my way. Last three outings have been a bust. With one tiny channel today. Heading north to a small up ground tomorrow and then either kiser or cj Monday.

I caught a couple dozen crappie today, but could not get a fish over 9.5". My buddy Jeff was 10' away and had some 10-10.5" fish. Most of the fish were 5-10' off bottom.

I went yesterday. I caught a bunch of babies and white bass. Ended up with 12 keepers. Tin guppy was fishing next to me and had several hogs laying on the ice. Out seemed like a 10:1 baby: keeper ratio.
I had my best luck on a small black and gold rapala and a small pink Swedish pimple.
 I tipped with spikes.

Thanks Bruce. I should fish CJ more since I live in Xenia. Need to learn more about the lake. If you need a fishing partner sometime, let me know.

You're welcome. I try to get out as much as I can. The ice is melting fast on us though.
They were saying we lost 4 inches between Saturday and yesterday.
My wife went out of town today, so I will probably not be able to make it out this weekend. But I am usually in most of the time as long as I have advanced notice.

I just returned today from my Las Vegas convention and promptly went out and looked over the lake. Its in the shape I would expect after a week of warm weather. It looks to be about 7 to 8 inches as an average with the edges in pretty bad shape. The 10 day forecast will freeze the edges back up nicely but it will take a minimum of 3-4 days of good cold. I found a few areas that I could get back onto the lake. To be honest with you, I wont try to get back out (far out) until mid to later next week. I have been ice fishing this lake for over 35 years and would suggest caution until that week of cold has had its time to heal the edges and some of the mid lake spots.

To those brave enough to go out, do not go alone, have your claws upon your person, and have a rope WITH you, just in case...

I agree with you fshman. I will wait until at least mid week before venturing back out unless it's on Erie. be safe.
