i Agree Joel.. learned over the yrs.. that sometimes you just gotta keep those pictures in your phone and avoid the text wildfire.. I had to use ketchup to detour fish hawks from some of the spots i fished last yr.. it got so bad that i refused to go back..Its a shame! someone sees you gaff a 8lber and the next day you cant even get close to your own holes! grrrrr...

sorry for the late post.. last week got into some fish pretty good for 2 days.. seems like the school will never stick around for more than a couple days.sSo if u get em on ya better pound em while u can.. Fish came on gold 3/16 and firetiger 3/16 biggest one day was 23 and the other was 20.. never used a gaf so much this yr. lost one at the hole that had to been pushin 6 lbs. never fought a fish like this.. made 3 runs from the hole back down thought he was gonna spool me. late on the gaff everytime. he wouldnt give. some things arent meant to be i suppose.. Ice was good 6 7 inchs somewhere around there.

Sorry shoulda of posted Ice thickness. On 1-4 ice was 5 inchs..everywhere i drilled at mainbeach which is an awesome spring summer time spot for saugeye with a slope and a couple contour drops. and a sandbar that is 4to 7 ft right now but very close to deep water which is 15 right now since the lake level is down 10 ft or so..that lil area has a bit of everything.. Sorry didnt have a better report for you guys just had to give up on the crappie and try somethin a lil diff.. gotta start something as far as a suageye bite on atwood through the ice. Its never been established as long as i can remember a guy will catch one here and there throughout the whole ice season on the community hole out in front of the yacht club. And they usually from what i hear never target them.. its just on the other end of the line.  need some guys to help out on saugeye reports during winter. Such an awesome saugeye fishery on soft water.. why not winter

Decided to try a different area of atwood i havent fished in yrs. I fished off the main meach.. I went specifically trying to target saugeye.. Since atwood is such a great crappie lake thought the ice i seem to forget about the saugeye there. I didnt have much luck i fished the afternoon from noon to 430ish.. i only rolled 4 fish..and had 2 bumps on a blue n chrome #5 jiggn rap tipped w minnow head on tail hook.. I have no idea what the were. they acted like a walleye coming off the bottom and timing my vibee. Could of also been catfish as my buddy was using a green buckshot 15 yrds from me and got a 20 incher. Plenty of marks. And definately worth anothet try.. maybe ill try some shallower water.water clarity was great and there was no snow on the lake and with the sun out here and there coulda played a role on em as well. Ice was busted up on shore. Had to find a spot to get on but was too bad. Ice was 5 inchs everywhere i drilled. Saw 2 shantys off yacht club. So we didnt lose our ice we should be good to go now. with cold temps here on out.

Berlin Reservoir / Re: BERLIN REPORT TODAY AND QUESTION
« on: December 31, 2010, 03:02:54 PM »
i wouldnt expect a limit of fish when you go to berlin.. I plan on catching nothing when i go.. theres great days when you do limit... theres days when u catch maybe 1 or 2 legal fish and then there are days when you dont catch any.. dont want you to think everyone that goes catches fish.. Chuck from A&C was out with me a few evenings ago.. he was actually in one of my favorite holes i drilled prior to that day.. and i drilled a few yrds  away from him i rolled 11 and pulled 1 walleye.. while him and a few others with him didnt touch a fish. Thats just fishing. its like that at times. if you need any tips let me know be glad to help

fished from 830ish to around 1130 on 12-29.. Didnt do so well caught around 40 fish but all small gills and crappie and a few whitebass. Did manage a few keepers but nothing spectacular..Ice is around 8 inchs out in front of yacht club area.. I fished soft plastics glow and white and glow and white jig heads. met up with Apex Predator out there and he did alright as well. Fishing definately slowed a bit im assuming with the sun being out it kept a majority of the fish on the bottom. a few singles here and there were cruising the water column and didnt stay long.  clarity was great for atwood. Just an off day.. but what a day to be on the ice. Not much wind.
