I managed the 3rd smallest keeper crappie, at 9.75" so I finished 1 out of the money, LOL seems its my usual spot but also got a small perch, a small white bass and I bet I had about 30 bluegills and kept for Quackpot about 8-9 of the better ones, some real nice keepers, I figured if I kept weeding through the gills sooner or later Id bring up a crappie and It worked once, just not twice.. Lots of fish marked on the bottom everywhere but they were all gills it seemed as I caught them at every place I tried. Good luck this week guys, Ill be on the Ohio River for my club catfish championships! PS better dress warm boys... Salmonid

as sensitive as these are, I assume they work best for in shanty use since outside with our 40 mph winds ( the norm here in the Midwest) would be hard to detect a strike. also if your sitting right on top of the hole do you have any probs seeing your graph or do you just have to tilt the screen a lot so you can see it at the same angle through your rod like we do with a normal rod, does that make sense? also I can see this affecting my back for long periods of time scrunched right over the hole, just a thought, Ive never tried one but might get one as a novelty to playwith.
Thanks, see you guys tomorrow at the docks.. Salmonid

Nags was that you who moved towards the shallow end and spoke with me about how slow it was?? we ghad the two Frabill Black shantys out from the Beach area I did get a really nice LM Bass on a minnow and we ended up with a handful of keeper gills but yeah, it was pretty slow. That East wind didn't help, that's my story and Im sticking too it.. LOL

took my buddy Jeff out with some friends who are regulars up there, they pretty much provided the travel, bait and location, was somewhere around 5 miles out, had a few fish flurrys but getting them to the surface was the problem, ended up with 4 but my buddy Jeff got a real nice toad, 11.3 lbs, 30.5" and a 19" girth, Pimples with green seemed to be the best producer, I tried to attach a pic but its not working, Ill try to get it on here, BTW it was by far the busiest day Ive ever seen I guestimated over a 1000 shantys with in a few miles of where we were, crazy... we parked a looooong ways out at 6:10 am, a big thanks to my buddys who baby-sat us!!

Kiser ice is running around 12" and the whole lake is locked up. about 5-7" of snow on top making a sled pull a little rough but not too bad. been getting some nice gills bigger then 7.5" by weeding through a bunch of 6.5" fish so they are still decent fish, managed 1-2 perch too but doesn't seem like as many as in years past but we have been getting a few nice crappies too, including several around the 12' mark. 4 of us managed about 8 crappies today, that's the most we have ever had in a day on the ice in several years, LOL Keep moving, fish do not seem to be in one particular spot, ( I did get that 8 lb channel cat near the dam the other day in 10 FOW) and have gotten some gills in as shallow as 4 fow, if your not on them, move.... PS don't forget technically, no gas or electric augers allowed at Kiser but I doubt anyone would enforce it.

Nice job!, I heard several crappy reports from sat morning up there, funny how Indian is one of those lakes where youll see a Great report and the next 9 are beyond dismal, LOL been that way for me for years.
I know they are there, just haven't timed it right.

Got this 26" female channel cat today on a minnow at Kiser, had drilled a 5" hole and realized that wasn't gonna happen, so put on freespool and drilled a second hole, then chiseled out the bottom and had to go elbow deep to get her to open up her mouth enough for me to lip her and force her through the hole, LOL This makes up for the bigger one I lost when we drilled another hole at Acton last month...Yeah, time for a bigger auger... Fished today from 10-4:30 struggled to get 7-8 gills but got a 26" channel cat whoo hoo and 3 bass in the 14-15" range, ice was 12" on both ends of the lake, entire lake locked up tight, 6" of snow made dragging sled hard work and got stuck in unplowed parking area, bring shovel..LOL Tin Guppy was out with Steve, Ill let him post how he did.
