Salt Fork / Any ice?
« on: January 20, 2014, 05:48:21 PM »
Like to come down for a couple days when ice is safe, not asking for your spot, just want to know if the ice is good. Any info would be highly appreciated seeing how its a 2 hr drive to find out. Thanks ahead of time.

JawJacker / My 2 sense
« on: January 10, 2014, 06:32:01 PM »
I've been using jaw jackers for a couple years now, and I don't walk out without them. Recently I left my old school tip ups at home and only used the jackers, they are lighter and take up less room in my sled. I've caught crappie, wipers, saugeye, and cats in the last couple outings on them, while Dave sat on his bucket day dreaming of dancing in a field of flowers in his yellow suit wondering why he wasn't catching fish and I had a pile on the ice. All kidding aside if you don't own one your not going to catch as many fish as the guy using them next to you. These are a great product and I can honestly say they double my catch every time I use them.

General Discussion / Let me know your opinion.
« on: January 09, 2014, 09:44:38 PM »
Today I kept a 3lb largemouth and I caught threw the ice, and got ALOT of slack for it. My question is, why is it so wrong to keep 1 large mouth every so often when the same guys giving me slack keep 6 eyes or 30 crappie every time they catch a limit. I understand bass are a tourney fish but eyes and crappie are too. Some say bass don't taste good but I"ve caught and ate them before threw the ice and they are like crappie, not great outta warm water but tasty outta cold water. I don't think anyone with a eye or a crappie on the ice should say anything to a guy with 1 bass on the ice. What's your opinion.

General Discussion / terrible bite, good day fishing
« on: January 03, 2014, 07:48:44 PM »
Even though the bite was tuff today and the fish we did catch were on the small size, it was still good to walk on water and spend some time with a good friend. If any of you were wondering crv 10 Hollhisle 6, I really enjoy given him an ICE WHOOPIN ;D

Alum Creek / 1/2/14
« on: January 02, 2014, 07:25:13 PM »
Drove around the lake today, good news is 99.9% of the lake is still open so all the snow we got won't insulate the ice.

Indian Lake / Conditions 1/2/14 ?

General Discussion / temps
« on: January 01, 2014, 10:12:07 AM »
Temps are looking good for good ice fishing. I seen single digits by mon night here. Only downer is the snow we are to get tonight, but with the majority of the lakes still open around us it shouldn't be an issue.

General Discussion / clam, 2 man back to back
« on: December 30, 2013, 10:50:55 PM »
I just got my new 2 man back to back danali put together and can't wait to set it up on some hard water. I've had a 2 man clam for 5 years I bought used and used it as a 1 man most of the time cause I like plenty of room for all my stuff, ask Dave I bring a lot stuff. There is more room in this thing than I could of imagine. The assembly went smooth, the only thing I would suggest is don't put it together in your house because it won't go threw your door without disassembling everything you spent time assembling. ::)

Pro's Pointers / Just a few thoughts
« on: December 16, 2013, 06:49:13 PM »
By no means do I consider myself a pro, but I thought I might throw a few things out there that might help someone just starting to hard water fish, catch a few more fish threw the ice. I have discovered over the years the lightest line you can get away with the more bites you'll get. There is less movement of the water under ice so the water will be much clearer than in the open water season. I always put a barrel swivel 12" above my bait or lure, this keeps your bait from spinning, a fish will not hit a spinning lure. One last thing I always do when ice fishing, I always have a rod with live bait under a bobber next to the line I'm jiggn a lot of the times your lure will attract them but they would prefer a minnow. I hope this helps out, ice fishing is a great, maybe the greatest outdoor sport, and anything I can do to help someone enjoy this sport as much as I do, I will do. If your not sure where to go and what to do hit me up, if I'm going and you want to get out I'm more than happy to tell ya where I'll be, in or around central Ohio. If anyone else would like to add something please do.

Alum Creek Dock Tournaments / Formally invited.
« on: December 16, 2013, 03:44:00 PM »
I would like to personally invite everyone out on the 22nd to witness me put another whoopin on Dave ;D. In all seriousness everyone should join us, in the pass I have been skeptical of how much fun a dock tourney would be, but it really is a good time and almost everyone walks away with something. If nothing else its fun to watch Dave squirm at whats in my bucket. His famous saying even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often is getting old ;)
