Wellington / wellington upground???
« on: December 28, 2017, 04:41:51 PM »
Anyone been able to lay eyes on the upground?
Wondering if it locked up or if the wind/geese kept it open.
Usually takes a little longer for the perched reservoirs to lock up

General Discussion / INTERESTING/FUN WEBSITE
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:08:54 AM »
I ran across the below website the other day and found it to be interesting.
1 link is my personal trophy page, which is small since i just started it.
The other is a link to the home page of the site.

http://www.trophystack.com/
http://www.trophystack.com/users/1109-otho-holcomb

Also check out the 14 lb snook on the recently uploaded photos page. the chick is smokin hot.  :o ;D :-*

Don't worry I won't be flooding the site with reoccuring links, just a one time post so if your interested you can check it out.

It is a website designed to rank your Trophies across the county in which it was harvested, the state it was harvested and the entire country.

Keep in mind it only ranks the trophies against other trophies that have been posted.

Its also an easy way to keep all your trophy pics and info in one spot.
It saves the moon phase, air temp and wind directiion/speed of the date harvested.

It ranks Deer along with other large Game & Fish.

Im sure after this ice season one of you guys can dethrone my #1 walleye catch.

Pro's Pointers / Re: Line Preference For Lake Erie Walleyes
« on: February 23, 2014, 12:41:49 PM »
I use 8lb p-line flouro ice.  I've landed all 8 fish that I have hooked this year. 4 of them have been over 30" & 9 lbs. It has less memory than pure flourocarbon. That way when when you spool it onto the smaller ice reals it doesn't coil as much. It is less brittle in the freezing temps also.
I use this on my steelhead rods when river fishing after ice off so I can assure you it is strong enough to pull in Lake Eries monster eyes.

I think it will last longer than 7 days. How long depends on the week following the warm up. Im seeing highs and lows below freezing.

Forgot to mention. Don't use your wife's iron to wax the skis make sure you buy a junk one from the thrift store. Don't ask how I know this.

I put more modern wide skis on my sled and let me tell you technology is a wonderful thing. Rides higher and pulls much easier. I bought them at a thrift shop for 25 bucks. Might seem like a lot for a ice fishing sled but after pulling it on 8" of snow I would've paid 65 for them. Switch out your thin ones for wider more modern skis snow cone. I promise you will not be disappointed. Also when your at the thrift store pick up an old iron. Then use it to wax the bottoms of your skis. Candle wax will work but some stuff called swix is much better. You can get it at dicks or any ski store. Cost about 10 bucks a bar. But will last an ice fisherman for 100 years give or take..
