I'm an avid duck hunter.  When the waterfowl migrate, they stay ahead of the cold fronts.  You can generally tell cold weather is approaching when geese and ducks are on every puddle of water you drive by.  This week should start peak migration of waterfowl here in Ohio.  Skim ice is growing on every pond with these evening temps dipping.  I get pumped up when the birds are in full swing.  Good shooting for us waterfowlers, and knowing that when their gone south ice is around the corner.  This morning I limited out on ducks with my Dad.  So I predict the next two weeks will be it for ducks and we will be dragging our shantys to limit out on fish around Christmas.

Alot of people use scents during the summer on their artificial baits.  Do any of you try them in the winter?  I picked up some Kodiak scent to try this ice season. I've never tried it, but think it can't hurt. ???

Any camera users out there?  I've picked up a Cabelas Camera and have had a great time using it this season. Love seeing what the fish are up to.

WingFoot Lake / Foot bite

For me at least, the bite has been really sad.  I fished this past Sunday from 11a.m. to 6ish and ended up with 6 small crappies.  Saw lots of fish on the camera but very finicky.  I went back out around noon on tuesday and had the same deal.  Very very picky eaters.  I am still seeing the schools of fish but now they barely check out the bait.  Wonder what gives?  I'm going to try for deeper water and explore more of the lake.  I've been having alot of luck in certain areas since first ice, so a change in location might work.
