Alum Creek / spillway 27
« on: January 26, 2012, 08:03:53 PM »
caught 2 muskie and a 27 3/4 eye tonight, plus snagged 10 dead ones off the bottom one of which had to be over 10lbs when it was alive. I'll have Dave post the pic of the eye. Going again tomorrow if anyone wants to meet up, staying late to see what the night bite is like.

General Discussion / Bucket list

A few off the lakes on my list for this year are Salt fork,
peidmont, and Clendening. Whats yours? Not the lakes you fish every year but the ones you want to fish that you don't usually get too. I grew up fishing these three but haven't been back to fish them on hard water in years, my soft water spots still seem to produce I wonder if my hard water spots are still good.

Alum Creek / jan 12th
« on: January 11, 2012, 10:58:17 AM »
Fished the docks with HWJ, Terry, and Dave, Everyone but Dave caught some nice crappies, I think hwj took home about 20 keepers. We went to the spillway for the afternoon eye bite but had no luck, everyone but Dave did catch a shad or two. We did see three small eyes caught by other anglers. All in all it was a good day out, Had fun fishen with Terry and HWJ, and harassing Dave. Hopefully Dave took home with him the Knowledge of how to catch fish. Ten more lessons he might be able to catch one himself ;D

General Discussion / while waiting for ice
« on: January 07, 2012, 08:31:55 AM »
While we all wait on ice one thing that has been producing fish locally is the spillways. I've seen and caught some eyes, muskie and crappies in the last week. I've never fished them this early in the year but with the warmer weather they seem to be biting.

Alum Creek / docks 12/12
« on: December 11, 2011, 03:28:00 PM »
Only issue today was I only had an hour to fish, did manage to catch 11 crappies 10 of which were over 10''. All came in 15 fow, caught them anywhere from bottom to 4ft, had 2 hogs break off at dock. Largest one was 11 3/4 smallest was 10. Water was MUDDIE, but they still were hungry. Hope this helps, and good luck. Aw yeah fished from 11:30 to 12:30.

Alum Creek / update on conditions.
« on: December 08, 2011, 05:58:45 AM »
Water is the color of hot coco, an rising. I don't think they are letting it fill back up, I think they just can't let it out as fast as its rising do to the fact it would flood columbus. Once they open the gate at the damn it should create good eye and crappie fishing in the spillway.

General Discussion / Gotta tip?
« on: December 05, 2011, 02:54:02 PM »
Anyone have a tip for the guy or gal just gittn into ice fishing? One thing I always do, no matter what I'm after is to tie a small barrel swivel 12 to 18" above my lure or snap, it doesn't matter what lure you have on the end of your line a fish will not hit a spinning lure.

General Discussion / Whats your favorite?
« on: December 01, 2011, 06:37:45 AM »
What do you find yourself tying to the end of your line more than any other lure in your box? If I'm after eyes I always start out with a jiggn rap on one of my poles, color depends on water clarity. If I'm panfishing I seem to also always start with a small jiggn rap on one pole. If the fish aren't aggressive I'll switch to a pimple or a small jig tipped with live bait. At times I'll fish live bait under a float, but I would have to say the jiggn rap is my favorite lure in my box. Whats your?

« on: November 22, 2011, 01:57:26 PM »
I want to try some new things this year, one thing I've been wanting to try is fishing threw the ice for Erie steelhead and trout. Has anyone ever fished for them trough the ice? Any advice on where to go and what to use would be appreciated.
