Mosquito Creek Reservoir / Mosquito 2/27-2/28
« on: March 01, 2010, 05:54:46 PM »
I fished the tourney and it was a blast. We had a chance to get in the money as my partner lost a nice eye at the hole. Sure wouldn't have won it as the winners had everybody covered.  We caught our crappies pretty quick and I got mine on a small kastmaster tipped with a minnow head. Sunday it was slower and the fish were smaller. Seems most of the walleye are being caught up by the buoy line.  Not in large numbers but the size are decent.

I fished out from the causeway saturday about 3/4 way to the island in 11' of water. A few crappies is all. Ice is 10 to 12". Sunday I went almost all the way to the island in about 9' of water and caught some more crappie a few perch and a 28" Northren Pike. Kastmaster w/ minnow head got most of the fish and a few crappie on a Vibe. No walleyes for me but a few are beng caught here and there.

A few weeks ago I left out from the cemetary and fished s.w. of the road bed. There has been a few guys fishing off the road bed. I caught tons of perch and a few largemouth. Also a few crappie.

Its been tuff navigating at Mosquito but the ice is solid everywhere I went this past weekend. Cold temps have been helping heard from a friend today that the slushy trails are now frozen but  uneven and bumpy. Shouldnt be a problem fishing until March like last year. Landed my biggest eye  last year off the ice on March 1, At least 8" of ice with some area's with 10". Hope it stays a while.

Also will add that walking is tuff due to the snow and slush but the ice is 7 to 10"

Mosquito Creek Reservoir / Skeeter report for this weekend
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:16:22 PM »
I fished the north end out from the bait shop and managed a few nice crappies with some throwbacks. I was targeting eyes with no luck. Water has become very stained in the last couple of weeks. Sunday I went down to the south end and tried for some eyes with the same results as the day before. I caught a few small perch. I tried from 21' to 9' of water. Hopefully thing will pick back up as they normally do towards the end of February.

Yes, I went out with John Hageman and fished in 31' of water. It seemed everybody was using something different. Got my fish on a Nils Master blue and silver shad. John was using a black/silver Nils next to me and was hitting them also. Stayed at the Getaway B&B. Nikki is realy nice.

LOl Ice is real good. Just about 3' of snow on it now. I have been getting lots of perch down on the south end by the cemetary and the occaisional eye and a crappie here and there. 2 weeks ago I caught 4 bigmouth bass. North end off the causeway has been great for the crappie and the occasional eye. Seems like the Bouy line up North has been better for the eyes. Water is super stained at the bouy line about 4" visibility.
