Well I fished the last day sunday and took a friend who has never caught a walleye before. It was a rather slow day but we did manage to get her some fish and that was my goal for the day. We fished out of Crane sw of a can, red/chrome jigging rap got fish, lots of marks but not many takers.

Few of us fished out of Crane about 4.2 miles out on Saturday and had a great day, over 100 fish for our group. Big fish was 10.6, Sunday we went to same spot and got a few in the am before it slowed for us, we decided to move ne and stopped .4 mile and got on em and finished out a 5 man limits with some throwbacks, 10.7 was biggest. Vibes and jigging raps took all fish.

The bites changes daily. If u move until you find fish either place can produce fish for ya. Guys are getting the at Perry , Crane, and Catwaba.

You can normally cross cracks easy on a sled, if u need planks I wouldn't cross them. Imo. We got bait at A&j Saturday and they were huge and a great count too. I agree with Jonny on herbs great count there too. Seems to be less crowded than Rickarts most of the time. Anywhere you go out from there will be a convoy of people going out , so your never really travel alone going out, but coming in usually can follow a few in. I try to take same line in on GPS that I took going out. Ice is incredibly thick now the only safety issues are the cracks. A hard south wind on a warm day can have the potential to open cracks wide enough that you won't be able to cross back over.

Yeah Jonny I was thinkin the same thing about sunday, after Saturday that they had full Bellys. We just couldn't find a school of fish. The fish we did catch were singles and there was no hestitation in them biting, they just shot off the bottom and smacked it. I almost thought about coming home after saturday knowing I could only do worse. Lol, but still had a blast sunday. I'm heading back up this sat and Sunday. Might try Crane Saturday and Catwaba sunday.

Ice was 20" + everywhere I drilled. Traveling was rough at Catwaba due to slush being refroze on trails but decent at Crane. Friday the 4 mile crack at Catwaba was open 2 1/2 feet where I crossed it. Cracks were tight at Crane but beach area was deep snow making it tough for quads to get on and off ice. Lots of shove ice at Crane but still easy to navigate.

Fished out of Catwaba friday with a buddy and was slow but after a few moves we got a decent bite from 3:30 to 5:30, Saturday we went to Crane and went out about 5 miles and had a great day, my buddy and I had about 50 fish and they hit on just about everything. Big fish was 11.3 lb and went back in along with quite a few 9+ lb fish. Just a incredible day of fishing. Sunday we went back to same area and pulled a few fish but was just slow. We made a few moves and ended up just East of West sister island and got a few more along with a dozen jumbo perch. All on buckshot spoon with one shiner.

Ice is 12-16" in most areas, cracks are the focus at this point as far as a safety concern.
