A number 5 pimple is what I use mostly. If current is present, I switch to a #6 or #7. Prism green and gold, prism green and silver, orange and silver, red and silver and gold work for me. Some friends had good luck with pink, but I haven't tried pink yet.

I use a ski rope for my safety rope. The handle adds weight to throw and is easy to slide an arm through. It's 75 feet. I have been thinking of carrying a flare gun too snowcone. Especially if I am by myself and no one else is around.

Water temps have cooled so ice can be made now. Come ion steady cold and no wind. It's getting closer. Yea

Glad you are ok someone. Hope you heal quick slab. The current weather played the groundwork for ice by cooling the water temps. Hoping everyone will have a better 2021, especially when we get ice. Good luck to everyone.

A plastic whistle is another good safety piece. It will carry farther and louder than your voice and won't freeze like a metal whistle.

Cascade Lake, Idaho to chase 2 to 3 lb. perch is my top choice. Saginaw Bay and Green Bay would be nice too. Hopefully Erie will freeze and be a great substitute. I'll settle for Indian and Buckeye. Still hoping for a long ice season.

Cold weather coming next week. Still early so I'm sure it's just a teaser but hopefully it's a good sign of what's coming. Fingers crossed for a good long ice season.
