Hi everyone!! I'm new to the site and haven't ice fished in 15 years( except a failed attempt in 2011 , but that's another story.) I'm going out to mosquito this evening. I got out my poles and sled shanty and auger. Any advice before I get out there? Btw love the site gave me ice fever

Made it out to mosquito for the evening. Everyone just left. Any one fish after dark? Wondering if I should pack up and leave. About 5 inches of ice.

Welcome Ben. The night bite is generally OK. Please be careful of the edges getting on and off the ice. The branches on the edge that are hard to see in the dark (vegatation in general) warm faster than the rest of the lake opening holes for rain water to run off into. Especially in the coves. Thanks for joining and be safe. Also try a small bobber that barely sinks below your hole without touching bottom. That will allow you to see a bite from a crappie which generally grab the bait and swim up. Hope this all helps.
Pm me I used to fish mosquito a lot before I had kids and all
