Fishing Partners / Attention Darke County Fishermen
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:00:57 PM »
Are fuel prices biting you in the butt?  I am looking for people in the Darke County area that would like to go fishing and split fuel costs.  The price of gas just keeps going up and I don't know about you but, I still want to go fishing!  I live in Bradford, just east of Greenville on State Route 36.  I do a lot of fishing at Indian Lake, C.J. Brown and Fort Loramie.  I like to fish both hard and soft water and really would like to get together with fellow fishermen to compare techniques and just have some fun.  I am available just about any time due to the fact that I am presently not employed due to some health issues a couple of years ago.  If you are interested please just drop me a line here on the site.  I also like to hunt and am available to do that also.  I raise Labrador Retrievers and they love to go bird hunting.  Just trying to do away with the winter boredom.   Thanks,  Craig

Recipes / Easy Fish Fry Mix
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:41:03 PM »
Dry ingredients

1 box of Jiffy mix  Cornbread mix
4 cups of flour
1 tbls of Lawry's seasoned salt
1 tbls Lemon Pepper
1 tbls salt
1 tbls pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Wet ingredients

1 12oz  can of beer
2 eggs
2 cups buttermilk

Put all dry ingredients in large zip-loc baggie.  Beat eggs then add beer and buttermilk in large bowl. Place fish in bowl and let it soak overnight. When ready to cook take fish from milk bath and coat in dry mixture. Deepfry until golden brown.

This dry mixture also works well with french fries. Just coat and deepfry.

This is the closest I have come to Drake's. It is just a little sweeter due to the Jiffy mix.

Place zip-loc in freezer after you have used what you need. This will keep for a long time. We have used ours over and over. When it gets low just add more and keep re-freezing. ;)

Recipes / Rumaki
« on: October 27, 2010, 08:01:12 PM »
Traditionally made with chicken livers but, we have used pheasant, deer loin chunks, and goose.

16oz bottle of soy sauce
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 small cans whole water chestnuts
2tbls minced garlic
roughly 2lbs bacon
roughly 2lbs of chunked meat (1 inch chunks)
toothpicks

Mix soy sauce, sugar and garlic in a bowl (this will be your marinade and glaze) add chunked meat to marinate for at least 30min.  1-2 hours is better if you have the time.
Take the bacon and slice in half.
Drain water chestnuts. Take chunk of meat, water chestnut and wrap bacon around and secure with toothpick.
These can be cooked on the grill or under a broiler at high heat. Keep a close eye on them and brush with marinade each time you turn them to give them a nice glaze.
Cooking time depends on what kind of meat you use.  About 15-20 min. is usually good.
will post pic. next time i make it :o
