We, the "Friends of CJ Brown Reservoir" have secured OFFICIAL permission for this our last and final cover drop into the depths of CJ Brown. There will be no more...there for, if the thought ever crossed your mind to attempt to create your own ice fishing "honey hole" we are welcoming all whom are interested to join us in this final effort. We will largely be posting on "Ohio Game Fishing> Regional Fishing Reports> SW Ohio> CJ Brown Water Temps". We are going to try to "splash" at least 300 attractors and create at least 3 "CC"s (Crayfish Condos) in this endeavor. There will be a "Meet and Greet" in April, and we are already beginning to stock pile materials in the Park`s Maint dump lane. Come join us for 1 last "splash". BTW, the GPS coordinates will NOT be posted, however participents and donors of materials WILL be given them if so desired...and again THANK YOU sincerely for the many here who have helped us in the past...you know whom you are !

Gentlemen, it seems there is 8-10+" of ice on most of the Marina and main lake. Wanted to put a rubble pile of hunks of clean cement, broken blocks inside the Marina simply for `ease of access just to the immediate S of the S edge of the fuel pier perhaps 50- 60` away in 16 fow with a perhaps 10" soupy black muck bottom. Simple roughly 1` high dense mass about 10` in diameter to catch the heat of the sun and rather rapidly go thru the ice...could just drop it over the guard rail and move it into place...would post NOT to approach it before it `went thru`. Even 1 unpainted block or hunk of cement a trip would be a start...will talk to the Corps and Park to go ahead on their "green light"...shortly will begin working on the "C" trees up in the lane...

A few of the herd were going to try to get together shortly at CJ, ASSUMING we get SAFE (4") of ice; possibly upon the old barn foundation (#26A and B) or any other spot that is agreeable...what say you all ? The more the merrier I would hope...

To anyone interested, the "Friends of CJ Brown Reservoir" are having a "meet and greet at the Cracker Barrel in Springfield on Leffel Lane just off I-70 (Exit 54) at 8AM. The new Park Manager and ODNR`s Debra Walters have been invited; the general fishing public is invited to come and conspire...uh. I mean get together...

The "Friends" were active once more upon the waters of CJ; approx 270+ more attractors of a variety of types were "splashed'. I was not able to be directly involved, but the `motley crew` did us proud. Incidently, COE and ODNR DIDNOT require that the group make the GPS positions "public knowledge" this time. (But if you got a good side scan...)

We are to soon meet again with ODNR and the Army Corps of Engineers and the Park Manager to 'seal the deal' for the next phase of attractors and spawning cover. We hope to emplace very long lasting cedar, osage orange, catfish spawning culverts and possibly several rubble/ block and red brick piles into CJ. We HOPE to be allowed to go to 20 fow which will allow us to "litter' upwards of 5X the previous area, potentially. We will be grateful for any assistance of manpower, materials, ect. The only real change will be that I will NOT be permitted to post the GPS coordinates; the parties assisting WILL recieve them in their entirety. This was NOT my personal decision, but as a condition imposed by many of the "Friends' I will accept it. Thank You !

Hello! Wanted to thank the group here for their help and assistance with the on going project at CJ Brown Reservoir; we are shortly going to begin assembly of the last 300 attractors to go into CJ...was going to post the GPS #s and locations on the CJ thread if that`s OK; hard or soft water, as they "age" believe for the next 3-5 + yrs they should be productive...again, Thank You!

Hello! My name is Lowell H Turner, am 1 of the "Friends of CJ Brown Reservoir", we are doing the "Lake Erie South 2+" project there. Was impressed with some of the posts; haven`t managed to get out much so far due to various reasons. Is any of the deeper cover producing? Specifically, the ravine E of Crabill House (#8A and B, 20- 25+ fow) the N side of the RR bridge embuttment N of the Campground (#3) the gravel bar NW of the Marina (#18 series) and the area just S of the S corner of the mouth of the Emergency Spillway, about 85- 95` from it (#9C, 20 fow 30` offshore). Lastly the remains of the old RR bridge due W of the NW corner of the Camper`s Point. Have origional 1964 Army Corps survey maps of the whole lake we are using for the project. Will say too we are still looking for help when the weather improves to assemble, load and place another 300 in approved spots; you feedback HELPS us to do a better job for the following yr...as said we are looking for help LATER to get them ready to place. Thanks and DO please give us feed back...

Hello! Was curious, has anyone tried the N side of the old train bridge embuttments(#3 on the map) ? Also where the ravine is (25 fow) just E of the Crabill House (#8A and B)? Or due W of the NW corner of the Camper`s Point (#19 and #19A)? Would be surprised if nothing isn`t coming off the deeper cover...Lastly, has anyone been trying the gravel bar NW of the Marina (#18 series); am sure from sonar some of the brush blocks ("BB"s) have "migrated" down into the old gravel pit...thanks!
