For what it is worth, try these spots and have your safety gear (claws, rope, ect) WITH you, NOT in your car: the hump just outside of the mouth of the Marina, the deep side of the set of 36 "C" trees on the outside lake side) bend just before the tip of the S Marina breakwater, the deep side of the set of 40 "C" trees on the outside far NW corner of the Marina. All these spots border 17-20 fow...good luck and be SAFE !

Correct. Plus there at least 5 areas that have underwater springs where the ice can be much thinner. ALWAYS have your `cat`s claws` ON your person and a 50` piece of rope/ clothes line/ ect WITH you, NOT left in your vehicle 1/2 mile (or farther) away...

Correct. Has anyone been out to CJ recently ? BTW the NW corner of the fuel pier was hot last season...won`t say why.

Forgive my attempt to "nail this down" a little better, but exactly "where" are we talking about `1st ice` ? Along the shore of the pond closest to Lake Erie, the south bank of the lower Ohio River...?  My guess for CJ Brown would be Dec 19th for skim ice and about Christmas Eve for SAFE ice...(I wish !)

To all who once followed this thread, we successfully completed the last drop, placing over 220 more attractors in CJ Brown. The thread at Ohio Game Fishing has been abandoned due to the banning for life of several "Friends". There is a new thread at "Crappie.com>State Forums>Ohio> CJ Brown Water Temps. Again, THANK YOU to the many willing hands that made this possible. Hopefully they serve you well...

C.J. Brown / The last CJ Brown "Splash"...
« on: March 17, 2014, 10:31:16 PM »
We, the "Friends of CJ Brown Reservoir" have secured OFFICIAL permission for this our last and final cover drop into the depths of CJ Brown. There will be no more...there for, if the thought ever crossed your mind to attempt to create your own ice fishing "honey hole" we are welcoming all whom are interested to join us in this final effort. We will largely be posting on "Ohio Game Fishing> Regional Fishing Reports> SW Ohio> CJ Brown Water Temps". We are going to try to "splash" at least 300 attractors and create at least 3 "CC"s (Crayfish Condos) in this endeavor. There will be a "Meet and Greet" in April, and we are already beginning to stock pile materials in the Park`s Maint dump lane. Come join us for 1 last "splash". BTW, the GPS coordinates will NOT be posted, however participents and donors of materials WILL be given them if so desired...and again THANK YOU sincerely for the many here who have helped us in the past...you know whom you are !

To those brave enough to go out, do not go alone, have your claws upon your person, and have a rope WITH you, just in case...

Green Pea, it sometimes goes that way; you can mark them but can`t pry their (deleted) mouths open with a tire iron. Keep trying, it WILL happen !
