Ice Gear for Sale / Eskimo travler shanty
« on: January 31, 2015, 12:23:58 PM »
I have up for sale an Eskimo travler shanty. It has been used but still serves its purpose. Has a built in sled and sets up from that. Does not flip. Two cone tots for the poles are broke ( I use wire to tie them on and it works fine even in the hardest wind) but they make replacement clips thru Eskimo, and the front window has a small tear in the plastic. Other than that great shanty. Only reason Im getting ride of is I have upgraded. Fishes one angler very comfortably but I have fished 2 in it more than once, each using 2 rods. Sets up in under 5 mins. First $100 takes it local pickup only. I live just north of Marysville. For some reason it's not letting me post pics. I will try again later.

I would say you could probably go just about anywhere you wanted on the lake. I checked some spots a cpl days ago and didn't find less than 10". Of course be carefull and spud. If you find the crappie Barney plz let me know bc I surely can't find them. Water is still kind of stained by the way. Good luck if you get ou. And me us know how you do.

It's been that low since ice out last year (2014) I heard there was another breach somewhere and that why it was lowered to where it is now. I know you could t get a boat in early spring bc of the big boulders on the ramp but they came with a back hoe and moved them about the first of May. Fishing was decent this year. Caught some eyes and perch lots of crappie. But it's sad to see it this way. All of it only runs 8ft or so deep now.

Yeah I agree that is weird, I'd like to see them stock black crappie only. Whites seem to populate to quickly and stunt. Blacks turn in to footballs with shoulders!!!

If they pumped from milk creek it's hard to tell what's in there. They didn't stock any crappie? Pretty awsome that it's getting dosed with perch!!

So was sitting around last night and decided to mess w the vex. The customer service guy told me the two most common spots for breakage in the cord are at the ducer and at the plug. So I started stripping of the coating on the outside and what do you know, broken wire right above the ducer. So I took a litle electrical tape and fixed it up. It looks kind of redneck now but it is working. Gonna try I out on the water hear soon.

Crv your right I do t want to fish without it, I have my marcum which works fine but usually fish w a partner and we each use a flasher.

Just got off he phone with vexilar, after a short time of trouble shootng they diagnosed it as needing a new ducer. Said it would run around $95. Hope I can find a used one somewhere or fin done cheaper than that. Anyone have any suggestions?

Quack pot I will get ahold of you and we can try and meet up. See if this is what's causing it. I've tried darn near everything else. I might try and fish sometime tomorrow so I might get ahold of you after, or we could team up and hit the ice? Got a lead on a decent perch bite.

General Discussion / Vex help please!!!!!
« on: January 18, 2015, 04:53:19 PM »
Ok guys I have a vex fl-8se. I have had the unit 2-3 years never have had any problems withit. I bought it new. Was fishing yesterday and all was well fished for about 6 hrs and the unit just stopped reading!! I switched holes and it just stopped. I unhooked the ducer and hooked it back up. Unplug the battery and let it set for about 10 mins and tryed again still nothing. Switched out to my spare battery and got zip! I have no idea what is going on. I inspected the ducer cable and can't see any damage. It was extremely weird that it just quit on me. Have never had any issues. I tryed calling vex but they are closed on the weekend. I'm thinking the ducer went bad but idk, hope it's something simple bc a new ducer is about $100 that I don't really have. Any ideas?? Thansk in advance

Hey Crv I think they quit doing that at Antrim last year or the year before. Or that was the rumor I heard. Maybe they just quit posting it.
