Title: River action
Post by: wapak ice dawg on March 10, 2010, 04:14:49 AM
Just for your info the spillway action has heated up, the flow is pretty strong right now in some places, I didn't fish below the spillway @ Indy but I fished the river a few miles down. We picked up 4 nice eyes and then we went to the auglaize river and actually caught 10 real good eyes, I didn't keep any at all that day as my buddy and I usually catch and release all fish from the river. I don't know if anything is wrong with them or not but some of the junk we wade through just gives me second thought about eating a fish with batteries and tires at your feet.

What do you like to use when fishing for them in the rivers?

I just use a jig and a tail , the weight of the jig depends on the flow of the river. I like to be able to feel the bottom but not to the point where the jig wont come off the bottom. The tail colors I always try and match the day , bright day , bright colors. Every once in a while I will find a shad and tip my jig but most of the time it's just a jig and a tail.

I'm sure there is we just happened to fish in St. Marys, I know they have pike below the damn in Wapak because last year my daughter caught 1 when we were in a canoe fishing below the damn and we always drift and walk until Glenwood rd
