Typically I use hook sizes from 6-12, with the larger being for the crappie. But I will go down to a #18 with a lone spike sometimes if fishing is tough. That said I got a 5 pound bass on a #12 pin min this past winter, so I typically favor smaller offerings thru the ice. But there are those few days when the reverse is true. Especially on heavily fished lakes where they see small stuff all the time!

early ice I use bigger stuff while the fish are aggressive. then down size as you go. I have seen slab catch some heafty fish on itty bitty pin mins, so have I......my go to is a small gold jig spoon with meat....
the time you spend fishing cannot be deducted from your life...
