I have a new mako 43cc is about $50 more than the stingray. it has a ton of power. I would assume the ray would be great.

No fish story! just stay in the newly dredged areas. use tip ups to locate the hot hole and then jig in that hole. also heard that off of wolf island a few limits were caught (via bait shop) but I didn't see a good place to access? now Dunns on the other hand is a dead sea!

Same thing happened to me. I was all lined up to go Sunday am and the kid that has been bugging me to go bailed on me. I didn't want to go out alone because if I fell through it may be days before someone comes along.

Eye bite is on, just look for them, keep drilling holes. Pimples and 5 to 6 feet of water seem to be the best.
I was out this AM and they are on fire in blackhawk. I used bass minnows and a jig purple jig head.

The taxes have been filed and Ive got the ok to to buy a new shanty and gas auger. First the shanty. I want a 1 man flip over. I think I want the Clam Pro TC. I am worried about the quality. Ive heard that clam has had some serious quality issues the last few years. The other shanty I would like is the Frabill Pro flip over. The only downside is the Frabill is 46 more lbs then the Clam. For the Auger Im thinking about a Jiffy. Not sure which model yet. I would like to hear all of your thoughts and ideas on the shantys and augers. Its a big purchase and I want to be happy with what I buy and not kick my self in the butt for wasting money.
I have a new clam 2 man just about all of the bolts broke off. I replaced them with stainless steel. other than that the quality is good. as for the auger I have a Eskimo 43cc mako 8" and its a beast. I think the stingray would be plenty big enough for Ohio

Lake Erie! word on the street is that the Lima Lake(s) have about 8" of ice I would assume that Findley would be the same or better. Killdeer has 6-8" of good ice but no perch bite!

I fished today, Saturday, 1/22 and the ice was 7" everywhere I went. Probably caught about 2 dozen gills. Most were around 7" with a few bigger and a few smaller. Saw fish in just about every hole. It started slow at first about 1pm, but things picked up as the day went on. They really turned on after 4pm. Early they wanted a size 14 orange/yellow with a spike, later they wanted a black size 14 with a wax worm. Not a lot of guys fishing where I was at. Most fish were suspending at about 6 to 7' in 10 fow.
Thanks, I think that my Daughter and I might fish it today mid day. great report by the way and congrats on your catch!

Went out today. caught maybe 30 bluegill, and 7 walleye <--- all small, and 2 smallmouth bass. had a camera it looks like all of the fish are in one area. and its not the deep area. if you go out you can tell that I made Swiss cheese of the reef areas and the deep hole found them in the saddle area of the 3 reefs 300 ft NW of the island bluegills are in the stump reef area.
