General Discussion / A nice saugeye!

I caught this 'eye out of a quarry.  There were less than 30 put in a few years ago and it is a 28 acre quarry.  I was quite surprised to catch one.  This was the fattest eye i've ever seen, not real long but super thick even all the way to the tail was fat!  Never did measure or weigh it, but guessing 2 1/2-3 lbs.

I got out on my quarry today in Columbus.  Fishing was slow with only 10 or so bluegills caught and 2 small LM.   One Bluegill was pushing 9" though.  I was 5". 3" of clear ice, 2" of frozen white snow ice.  Ice around the edges was iffy.

Alum Creek / Ice conditions?
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:01:14 AM »
Whenever somebody gets out can you let me know if the snow is on the ice or if it liquefied?  The ice on my quarry liquefied and should be a good 8 inches of good hard white ice by tomorrow morning!  I'm pumped that the snow did that.

Ice Fishing Pictures / Nice catfish I caught this year

Here is a nice cat I caught from a farm pond earlier this year.  It hit a jig and waxworm on an ultra light ice rod with 4 lb test.  It was an adventure that required us to drill another 6" hole since he wasn't getting through the one.  Estimated at around 30" and 9-10lbs

I live on a quarry and got out for a few hours today and caught some gills and this little bass.  Ice was 2.75" of glass.

Indian Lake / Indian Results 1/31
« on: January 31, 2010, 07:12:53 PM »
I made the trip to Indian today and decided to try out the LI ice.  Ice was good at 5+ inches and it was making ice the whole time I was there.  There were some areas near shore that looked to have skim ice, but it was 3 inches and clear!  Scary to walk on, but it held us fine.

Fishing was non-existent for panfish up there.  The high sun and murky water had the fish lockjawed.  Had one good hit on a Vibe that I missed and that was it for me.
