Luvtaphish, your right about Team Carlin/Gordon being stainless steel. Those two are the real deal! Those two are a pair of "IceThugs". I swear they can catch a 2 pound crappie out of a glass of chocolate milk ! My prediction is they will have the tourney wrapped up and be eating biscuits and gravy by 8.a.m. Just sayin'...

I'm a Vex guy. Ice put a lot of hours on mine. I got mine based on price. I wanted both a camera and a flasher. My camera is fun to use but my Vex works in any water clarity condition and also at night. I've had zero issues with my Vex. Guys that use Marcums absolutely love them. They are considered the best unit, but pricey. You should be able to pick one up on clearance pretty soon. My 2cents.

Will do Fishingful, the electronics shelf is sweet! This thing is built well too! I'm going to put hyfax runners on it. Should be a big plus for my style of fishing.

Just got back from Bass Pro in Toledo. Picked up my new Shappell BayRunner. Guess I'll have to put it together soon with these hard temps hitting!

The black boots are Mickeys and work great. The white boots are a Bunnies and are for extreme cold. I really like them. Got mine from army surplus out of Pennsylvania $32 a pair. Do a search and you'll find the better prices. I got my Artic Armor suit from RedRock Store online. They had the best price, very light weight very warm. My 2 cents

The fl-8 doesn't split. I think the fl-18 is the model # that starts to allow you to split the water column and zoom on the bottom 6 feet. Really attractive to me now that I've been using my Vex for several years.

Buster, fl-8 is perfect. Get used to using it and you'll spend a lot ore time on the ice.

Can't blame you for keeping the fl-18. I really like the split screen and bottom zoom. I'm still using my fl-8. Would love to have the 18.
