Just got back from Canada. We crushed the smallmouth. Netted some great Pike and even picked up a few trophy Pumpkinseeds. The coolest and first for me was the sauger. Very cool to catch these fish. I'm really amped up for the ice. I was talking to the Canadians about their ice fishing. Unbelievable how many feet of ice they get up there. Bring it on, I'm ready for the cold temps.

I've used the JiffyPro4 propane auger and I would get it over a gas auger. It is a great auger. I have also used a Nils 6" hand auger. It is an amazing auger compared to my Mora 8" hand auger. Very little effort thru 6" of ice.

I put the ski system on mine. I also got those hanging shelves (Clam?) and the really help keep things off the ground. I usually put my bulk items in a Shappell JetSled. I will stack it on top of my collapsed shanty and bungee it down to it.  Dragging it across parking lots and in snow makes it a breeze. I think I got Frabil velcro LED light and velcro hook to hang my jacket. Just hang these and a golf towell from the above poles in your shanty. Hope this helps

Your gonna love it.  Shappell makes a great , comfortable shanty to ice fish out of.  I have the 3000 and really like the carpeted floor and most important, the head room. Standing up and stretching is a must for me when out on the ice. I also like the ski system for pulling out in any conditions. Your 4000 should have enough room to host the SuperBowl  ;D

Just not ready yet fellas.  2" on a gravel pit pond (3" in one small section) and wet snow on top of the ice where the wind stacked it at the North end.
