C.J. Brown / 02/17/2016 "Good Gill Almighty"

Fished marina from 12pm until about 5pm. Ice was 3 and 4 inches so I stepped off the docks and hit some favorites. Ran into the Legend Popeye Jim, purchased some jigs and had good conversation. I was on a crappie hunt as always, but we hit a brush pile that was loaded with Gills so I said why not. Caught over 100, but kept 46. 44 Bream and 2 Crappie. You gotta love fishing with Jim......

Marina, ice is 6,7 inches. Largest Crappie in 2 days was 12 inches, but plenty of keepers with plenty of Bream mixed in. 19 keeper Crappie yesterday from sun up until about 2pm. For every keeper threw back at least 3 dinks. Kept 7 Bream also. 6 keeper Crappie the evening of 01/23/16 with 18 Bream, had my 2 young daughters out for a couple hours ages 13 and 8.

Went to the Look Out but couldnt find a way out onto the ice so we grudgingly went to the marina. I say grudgingly because hadnt done well in the marina since the fish moved out to deeper water earlier this month. Started to head out to a brush pile from the dock when JW said "Dont do it". Didnt wanna be the fools who didnt listen so we agreed. JW then mentioned an idea of laying down a 2x4 to cross the open water to get out on the ice at the Look Out so my buddy and I thought we'd give it a shot. Went and grabbed a few 2x4's from a trash pile at the bait store. We made a bridge and accessed the Look Out with ease. Didnt count'm but ended the day with no real hogs, but plenty keeper Crappie and a Perch for a fish fry tonight. Water was murky with strong current, but turned a disappointing dock fishing day in the marina into a decent day out on the main lake. Thanks JW !
