Wow, the bite has been SLOW. Caught 1 dink perch yesterday. I wouldn't have noticed the bite if I wasn't watching my spring bobber. VERY light biter. It's still good to get out on the ice.

I have 4 inces on my small pond! Fished about 2 hours yesterday with the East wind. Wind from the East, fishing least. Wind from the West, fishing best was true. Drilled 5 holes in different depths, no bites. Will be out tomorrow.

Does it count as ice fishing if tomorrow, the ice isn't safe on my pond and I go out on my 4x8 Pelican bass raider boat?  ;D I can use my spud bar to get out to the deep water and drill off the side and ...............fish!! I may not break thru with the weight spread out and if I do, who cares? I'm in a boat!

I will fish my pond primarily, but I'm also going to try a private lake near me in West Mansfield that I am a member of. Lets hope for good ice this year similar to last year!

I have been adding PVC brush/ structures to the pond this year. I put in 14 porcupine structures when it was built in 2015. Am adding 14 more underwater ''trees'' and smaller bushes..

Looks like 1 more day to fish this year. I still have 6-7 inches under the snow. I caught my best bass and perch this year and fished more hours than ever. 13 1/2 inch perch and yesterday I caught a 14 1/2 inch largemouth! Been a good year for sure.

Ice is 7 inches on my pond now! Been fishing a lot, but very slow. Missed some hits, probably dinks. I will keep at it. With the snow covering the pond and more snow coming tonight, I turned on my aerator to add oxygen. Just have to stay away from the open water!

Slow day on my 1 acre pond Saturday with snow front coming and East wind. I did catch my best perch ever at 13 1/2 inches.

I fished my pond yesterday for a few hours. Slow day, but caught a small bass and a crappie. Buddy is coming over tomorrow morning and we are going to fish most of the day. Used a beaded spoon for the first time, great action. In the darkened shanty, I could see the bottom at around 9 foot. I actually saw the crappie hit the spoon. Pretty clear water!

Can anyone tell me what this is that my perch regurgitated after I caught her? I thought plastic worm, but it was hollow. About 4-5 inches long, soft, kinda rubbery. The fish was full of eggs, if that means anything. Thanks

Walleye/saugeye would be next favorite, although I think a big smallmouth would be fun too!

OK, I'm bored waiting for good ice! My favorite fish to catch thru the ice is the Yellow perch. Why? They bite good, they fight good, and they fry good! Plus, they are a beautiful fish. I fish with 3 rods, 2 inline reels and 1 spinning. My inlines are   attached to an ulta light and light action rods and I spool them with 4 lb Suffix ice magic line. I use 6 lb for the med action spinning outfit, which I either dead stick or use with an auto hook setter with a small bell on it.
