Got over there at about 12:30 could see where somebody had checked the ice. Walked down past the narrows no good. Came back and worked out onto ice near where I parked. The area that is somewhat shaded. Managed to get out about 70 feet(I was tied off) fished one hole. Ice very sketchy but I did get a mess of keeper gills.Maybe tues. it will be better.

Looks like I will be by myself as my son claims he has to be with his girlfriend on Val. Day. I'll tie to the shore with a rope. Good to know at least one body will be out within shouting distance.

The chance is there for ice but might think about an upground res. like new london. It has been a while since I fished new london but it would most likely freeze before the mill. Also findley res. may be good. Not 100% sure about findley or new london. I am 100% sure that if we do start getting cold I will be checking on the mill and will post what I find.

Thanks for the report. Checked my pond last night and could not get on. Had planned on the mill today but may hold off. Could be done for quite a while as temps in the 50's coming for several days. After that it will take a while. Last I heard late feb to be cold. Maybe have some good days then and early March. Tight lines to all.

I was over yesterday and ice was sketchy. Edges really opened up. My deal is no fish. Just can't seem to find them. Fished in last years areas and just dinks. Hearing you had a good night gives me hope. I'll be back hole poppin before weekend.

Bait man have you been doing any good at charles mill. I don't need to know the spot just if they are biting. P'hill has been slow.

if you fish the spillway just go down to the lake on the other side NOT BY THE TOWER. Musky also down by the covered bridge spillway side. Use a spud on the ice. Also I got skunked today on the ice not even a bite.

Just a few dinks by the dam. Ice about 3-4 inches thinner by the cracks and edge. Mid lake out from yacht club 4-6 inch ice few bites and a dink.

Ice about 4" in the first area by marina only about 2-3 in the narrows. Did not go down lake any further as spud started punching thru. Lake level is high about summer pool so I think they will lower it down. The last few weeks have seen big change in lake level. Few fish caught went home empty. Pleasent hill looks good I'll go there maybe wed. or thurs.

divine intervention twice. Cell phone down the hole not bad, as it may have made you focus just on the boy and moment at hand. Sometimes I think people get to caught up on texting a buddy or as I say "diddle dumping on the cell phone" that they can lose the moment at hand. Time spent together only happens a short time and then the kids are gone all grown up or just gone. I sure wish I could have some time back. Tight lines to you and hope you and your boy have some more adventures.

The mill has been on fire all season. Fished the edge of the pack on sat. and quietly nailed them. Biggest crappie was 14in.  Heard a few grumbles about a slow bite but my bucket was full. Sometimes you have to be quiet about what you are getting or Somebody will set up right on top of you. If you have not fished the mill this year then you missed some good action. Melt and rain this week will most likely raise the lake so then it can be iffy as far as the ice goes. Gold pimple tipped with waxy 4' below ice 9fow.
