Bait man have you been doing any good at charles mill. I don't need to know the spot just if they are biting. P'hill has been slow.

Charles Mill / slow day
« on: January 19, 2016, 04:55:08 PM »
Ice about 4" in the first area by marina only about 2-3 in the narrows. Did not go down lake any further as spud started punching thru. Lake level is high about summer pool so I think they will lower it down. The last few weeks have seen big change in lake level. Few fish caught went home empty. Pleasent hill looks good I'll go there maybe wed. or thurs.

« on: February 25, 2015, 07:56:29 PM »
Tues gill and perch bite was crazy good. 6fow. Weds bite was slower fish still 6fow but had to jiggle the heck out of jig to get a bite. Fished 5 to 20 fow only got them in 6fow. Might have been last time out for me. Post you next year.

Charles Mill / check your ice
« on: February 08, 2015, 09:42:32 PM »
Just back from the mill again. Warm weather starting to soften ice a bit. A warning from another fisherman may have kept me from going in as he pointed out some springs that had opened up. Also found some bad areas on way back in.  Freeze up this week will help.

Fishing still hot. Crazy yesterday once we located fish. Got squeezed off of my honey holes so we found another. The key for us has been depth. 2 or 3 fow deeper and nothing but dink perch for the most part. We fish 5-6 fow. Crappie 12-14 inch in the evening good gill and perch in day. Like smallest jiggin rap perch colored tiped with waxy. Gold good to.

Pleasant Hill / slim pickins

Been the worst year ever for me at P'hill. Out again wed. Could not find a tap let alone a good bite. Fished 3-23fow moved all over and nothing. Talked to a few guys and they had the same result. Left after 7 hrs and went to Charles mill met a buddy who had been there all day and had a nice mess of gills and a few perch. No crappie. I fished for a bit and had some good gills and perch. So far this year Charles mill has been good.

Pleasant Hill / P'hill ice
« on: February 21, 2014, 07:15:44 PM »
Drove across dam could see the lake came up. Looked like 15-20ft of open water from shore in many spots.  Ice is done as far as I would guess. My take would be to find a different lake to fish.

Pleasant Hill / Tough bite
« on: February 05, 2014, 05:52:50 PM »
Last 2 times out (Sun. and Tues) bite has been tough. Slayed them a week ago and since not much. A few perch tues and have seen just a few crappie etc. caught. Moved as much as I could drilled 16 to 18 inch ice tired my old ass out.  Been a lot of guys out. May have to head back over to Charles Mill.

Pleasant Hill / Pleasent hill ice
« on: January 30, 2014, 07:32:30 PM »
Good ice 12 in found out from cabin area across from lodge.  Only drilled 3 holes to locate active fish 12fow. Caught good gills and some nice crappie. bite lasted all day.  Fish seemed to be about 2 feet up. Several others were out and had some nice crappie.  No perch or saugeye.  Jiggin rap tipped with wax worm nothing special about jig presentation as well. At time could not keep up with 2 rods. Was told good ice down at damn end and could see a shanty down that way. If you don't get cold out ice fishin then you left too soon. Ha. First time I ever ran out of wax worms.

Charles Mill / Lots of gills
« on: December 17, 2013, 05:53:59 PM »
Back over to charles mill today.  Ice is still not very good. Dusting of snow covered over several soft spots from yesterday so I followed the shore almost all the way down to channel that connects to river side. Fished same spot as yesterday and hammered them all day long. About 4-4.5 fow wax worm. I did keep 50 gills and put back to many to count. A few perch. No body else out and no sign of anybody even checking ice. Warm up and rain in forecast so that will do it for me for a while.  I remember several years back early ice and then nadda.  Hope this year will be different.

Pleasant Hill / Unsafe
« on: February 23, 2013, 09:04:39 PM »
Just fished P'hill the other day and had good ice. Today went out and with in a couple of hours the ice turned to mush. Sun was bright enough to mess up the ice. 25 years I have not had that happen as it did today. Spud started popping thru over areas we had just walked. No good I can not say it enough it is DONE. I hope folks got some tips from my posts as I have picked up some as well. Even an old dog can learn a trick. Post you next season.
