I'm already thinking of the ice. Checked the gear, and am getting things ready. If the cool summer is any indication, we should have a great ice season!! Some will hate me for starting this again, but I think I'll be standing on water by December 14 this year. What do you all think?
PS, safe ice is at least 3 1/2 inches.
Prizes to be determined. :D
-
That's funny I say dec 24
-
IFO will give away a Jason Mitchell Ice rod for the correct date.
I pick December 17th but someone else can pick that date and win.

On what body of water ??? Northern or southern Ohio? Depends on where you live!!! Regardless, I'll say Christmas Day where you live!! ;D
-
that's a real good point because a small pond up north will be just thick enough for someone too take a chance on.....I have been out on 2 '' myself because my brain wasn't right, hahaha........the last couple years I have went thru twice because the temps have been so wishey washy :P so please people be safe ;D
-
January 1st... Way too early, but I have wishful thinking...
-
You don't have to be the one on the ice, just the person who gets the date right. That way it's fair for everyone. And safe ice is at least 3 inches.
-
very good
-
I am going to say December 27th.
-

Sweedish, You picked the same date. Make sure you pick another as the first date picked is the winner.
-
Did we not count the guys fishing on Indian last weekend?
-
That's up to Dave, there were a couple guys on Mogadore also.
-
In years past Dave wouldn't announce a winner till there was confirmed safe ice 3-4 inches I don't know that any lake has had that yet.
-
Don't think it's been said so I'll go with December 19th. At least I will probably be about if I can
-
:'( Already taken , sorry about that .
-
I'll be on the hard water this sunday. So it looks the 16th of Dec.
-
Who said Dec 16 ? ;)
-
Guess I lost, my reverse psychology worked, you are welcome fellow icemen I took one for the team for the better of us all. ;D ;D ;D
-
Dave will have to make the call, a lot of us fished yesterday, but I wouldn't say it was truely SAFE ice, at least not on Nimi. We were fishing on 2-3". It was hard, clear ice, but still a pucker factor, even with a spud bar!
-
I am officially calling December 16th the first day of safe ice.
RatherbeFishing fished Indian Lake today and there was 4 inches or more in spots. CRV checked spots on Alum and it also had 4 inches.
Even though there is 4 inches of ice and the contest has been announce I must reiterate that no ice is safe, especially early ice with snow on top.
You must not fish alone and have a spud bar to check every step.
We do not want to have any deaths in Ohio due to lack of safety precautions!
Since Banker picked the winning date and he is on the pro Staff that he will donate the rod to the first picture of a kid holding the 2014 online entry form and his fish on the online tournament board.
Great Job Scott!

I guess the key to not jinxing the season is to start the contest when it's 90 degrees outside! Sure have had a great season so far, one of the best I can remember!
