Title: time to move forward
Post by: snowcone on February 15, 2012, 09:05:19 PM
well friends, we have all waited and hoped and the ice was a bust. :-\ and now its time to move on 8) im storing my ice gear for next year with a heavy sigh, but all is good because of all the swell people here we managed to share alot , make new friends, and learn alot...now the fishing will just get better and because of all the friends i have made here and the things i have learned on this site, all of you have made me a better fisherman.  :) thanx ....the trout are in the rivers, the wallye will soon be and the only problem i will have is deciding on where and when to go ....how about you? since i run all over to fish i hope to have news soon of catches and pics,    im ready  ;D    when the silence of the outdoors is broken with that sound.... FISH ON  .....does it get any better   hehehe

Couldn't have said it better.  Can't wait to get the boat out and chase big green basses for the next 9 months!  With some musky fishin thrown in.  My wife says I ruin the fishing by making noise when I get a big one.  Says I look and sound like Mike Iaconelli.  :)

HAHAHA!! At the end of last year when I have a perch or walleye on the rod I'd talk like Troy from the show swamp people, "oohh dis is a twee shaker" followed by a "choot it...CHOOT IT!!" after the fish was in the boat!!

Love to.  Only bad thing is you'd kick my butt.  Only time I catch a walleye in soft water is by mistake when I'm bass fishing!  But I'd be game.

I am interested on going as well. With my new position at work I will have more days off to fish now. I wont be able to do weekdays but I can do weekends in the summertime.

Perch like this one?

Or these? About 80 fish in a few hours from me and a couple friends.

With the two hook perch rigs we use, you can catch two at a time if you're lucky! I caught "dubs" three times last season.

Well I'm looking at a new boat for this season, it can fish 6-8 people at a time without being over crowded. Plenty of room for a group outing.
If I keep my little Rinker it will be myself and one or two others at a time...tops.
But I try to go out a few weekends a month, so hit me up.

Sounds good.  Sundays are best for me.  Going to be busy thru mid-May with a fishing vacation and starting the Great Lakes Largemouth Series.  I'm loving it, but it's a little more work than I thought.   ;D

Thank you for the offer and I will take you up on it sometime this summer. I am always wanting to get up to the big lake. Everytime I go up there it is always for walleye but for the last few years I have been craving some lake erie jumbo perch.

If you guys really want to do a group get together you should rent out one of the headboats I work on and I can "first mate" cough cough :)

How much would it cost to do that for a day?And how many IFO members could we get on the boat? I really like this idea for a get together as we could get a whole bunch of guys on the same boat. Now the last time I went on a headboat all we caught was a bunch of sheephead. Do you have better spots that produce good fish? lol.

I like that idea too.  Where does the boat go out of?  What will we target?

You know that we will keep you in the loop. Just make sure you get the walleye all the way in and dont loose him. ;D

I could probably get 20 guys for 625 including bait... That was last years price. Defiantly cheaper if it was during the week. I'm sure we could get something worked out if you guys for sure wanted to do it.

The best fishing will be for walleyes in mid/late april or mid june. April will be cold but if the weather cooperates you can have limits with ease. Also the greatness of headboat fishing is we are casting only, so the fishing is "real" IMO.

As for fishing in June it can be good week and horrible the next, if you guys could go on short notice I think you would be much better off but those are defiantly places to start...

I seriously believe we have the best captains on the lake so do we have better spots, not sure to say that. But captains that work to put you on the fish, we do for sure.

I'd be interested too, let me know when.

That sounds great. I see no problem to get 20 people to go. with that price it works out to 32.00 per person. Even with times being tough I think most guys can afford that and im sure most people can carpool to get up there to save money on gas. All we need to do is figure out a date so we can reserve a boat so its just all IFO members and family. I would like to do this in the summer when its nice and warm outside. Even if the fish dont bite well it will be nice to get everyone together since we didnt have any this winter.

Alright well sounds good you guys just set me up with the info and I'll see what I can do. I can probably make most of the lures you would use anyways... I will start working here in the next few days so I will ask for recommendations on when we should get this set for. and yes you can use your own rods

Weekdays? HAHAHA!!! You funny!
Starting next month...Monday through Friday my ass belongs to work, then I get a two day pass! LOL!

But....I may get the Walleye fever and have to call in sick! What weekday were you thinking Jonny?
Title: Re: time to move forward
Post by: slabslayer on February 26, 2012, 03:03:35 PM
Depends on the day and my work schedule.  I'd prefer a weekday, but don't know if I can make a weekday.  With construction, never know when I'll be busy.  Although I'm booked solid next 3 months at least.  But I never work weekends!  ;D

David if your reading this and really want to get it going, I can really get this going, make a sticky or something if need be.

I was there for the last one but it was the first time in years Akron U made it to march madness. They had a tv in the room while she was in labor and I kept yelling at the tv because Akron was playing horribly.  ;D She still has not let me live that down.  Hopefully there is no good games on this time because she has already told me I cant watch basketball while she is in labor this time.  ;D

I have one last ice trip planned for this next weekend, its a 6 hr drive to the Chippawa flowage. All of the ice around me  is now honeycombed and unsafe. I will soon be putting away the ice gear and prep the boat. I am hoping to come down to Ohio this spring to visit my daughter and see her new house in Parma (sub of Cleveland). If any of ya fish close maybe we can wet a line.

Glad someone's catching something, my work has been crazy.  Six 10's leaves little time for fishing.  Need Sunday just to recover and rest, I'm so tired, I can't think about fishing.  Going to try to go for the morning this Sunday, it's a sin I haven't boated in a month.
