Lake Loramie State Park / Re: Lost 5" Lazer Auger
« on: February 08, 2022, 04:23:32 PM »
Thanks to to the former Mercer County game warden who went out within an hour after I left, i will be getting my auger back!  I thought it may have been at the ramp but it was near.the bend in the channel.  Spillway Bait shop was very helpful.  I appreciate all the honest people out there!

The only time i have fished holes that i have not drilled was either after asking or if they had left the area.  A flat tire would have served them right.  Many fisherman simply have to etiquette anymore.

I have have someone drill holes close enough to the shanty a friend and if were.fishing in that he was brushing the walls while drilling.  This was on a flat, not a weed edge or break.😠

Prayers go out to him.  Got the great pleasure of meeting him and his wilcraft out on indian lake last year on Valentine's day.  Praying for a full recovery so he can enjoy many more years fishing from that unique vehicle.

« on: January 30, 2022, 12:39:27 PM »
If anyone found a 5" lazer auger and does not want to capitalize on my mistake, please PM me.  I can describe exactly where i think i left it.  After returning tackle boxes, ice scoopers and countless other gear fellow fisherman left behind, i hope i can get my auger back.

Here is my 11" crappie from Loramie from 1-22-2022.  Caught on same day as 8 3/4" bluegill.  Fun to catch on 2# test noodle rod.

Grand Lake St. Marys / Re: Current Ice Conditions?
« on: January 22, 2022, 03:30:36 PM »
I had about 6" on 1-22-2022 on a channel on the north side.  Not even a mark on the vexilar except my jig and some brush.  Edges are iffy due to dropping water levels.  Lots of open water on the open lake.  Bait shop on st marys had not heard anything back from anybody.

Made it out on Loramie and got about 20 crappies and a few bluegills, all 6" or less.  Good to be out on the ice though.  Yellow was the color, no hits on pink or red.  Tipping jigs with spikes.  About 4-5"  of ice where i checked.  Saw a guy that had a few 5-6" gills and a keeper saugeye.

I am trying Loramie tonight after work.  IF not much is going on there, I will stay home and try Grand Lake on the weekend.  Might hit Indian for saugeye in the evenings early next week, don't feel like fighting the weekend crowds.

I am glad you found some crappie in the channels.  With the lake level dropping faster than the thermometer, I figured the crappie would be in open water.  A vexilar is an awesome tool for letting you know the fish are there and their reaction to your lures.

Will there be a new form for the 2022 season tournament?  Right now, last season's form is posted.  OF course, I just jinxed myself be making the request.  I very rarely catch anything with entering anyway!

Just spudded a hole out on the main part of the lake and measured 3" thick.  It has had a few freeze thaw cycles or I would be on it.  I got the gear out today.  Maybe next week we will be able to kick off the season.  Fingers crossed!
