Here is a sunrise pic from 1-8-2022. I stood on maybe 1.5" at a beach.

We have a little bit of ice on grand lake st marys today. Only about 1" thick and most of it will probably melt in the rain and warm temps sunday. I have not bothered getting my gear ready this year, it probably won't get used anyway. I took a picture but it is too large to attach and now it is too dark to get another at lower resolution.

Glad to hear you can get back out Evinrude. I plan on vetting out on GLSM, Indian, Loramie, Lima reservoirs. If things get cold, a few trips to Erie would be nice.

That is a major bummer. I fished with Dan a few times at Indian, Loramie and my home lake GLSM. He was a great guy. I think i have fished with wapak ice dawg a few times. Does anyone know the cause of death? I think he was only late 40's or early 50's.

Broke a long streak of not hitting indian lake in winter. Fished with a buddy all day with nothing to show for our efforts. Moved a lot and marked a lot, just no biters. He had a 17 & 19" saugeye a few days ago. I did get to quackpot and his wilcraft out there, pretty sweet setup.

You might want to post this in the Indian Lake section to get a little more specific response. Good luck on the hard water!
For me, I like vibes, jigging raps and Swedish pimples for saugeye. Small jigs with waxies or spikes for panfish.

Ray McMaster has your skimmer. You had talked to him Friday. It was found at the bank near Earl's Island. Call Ray at the number I send in a private message. Leave a message since he won't answer an unknown number.

After spending a few hours on another lake, I decided to return home to grand lake. Wise desicion as I caught about 30-40 small gills and a few small crappies. All were released. Got to finally use the new 2 year old shanty. All fish caught on various colored tungsten jigs tipped with spikes and a spring bobber. Very light bites with the east wind. Some fish were suspended as shallow as 2 feet, most were within 1' of bottom. Nice to finally get out, but the snow that we got last night and are still getting won't do the 3" of marginal ice any favors.

I saw you got out on the ice. I am planning on hitting loramie tomorrow. If it does not go well, back home to GLSM to give it a try. Then packing the gear away unless I can get out a day or two during the week. Forecast not looking good.

Grand Lake St. Mary's area forecast is not looking good. Only about a week without going over freezing is not going to take us from mostly open water to fishable ice. After next week, daytime highs are mid to high 30's and lows in high 20's. I'm throwing in the towel and putting all my stuff up until next year. Once everything is packed away, we will probably get hit with a polar vortex. You are welcome if it happens guys!
I am going t o book a trip to Devil's Lake North Dakota next year. I will die of withdrawal if I don't get out three years in a row.

That was a great way to promote the site. Jason talked about the dock tournaments at Alum Creek. Forgive me if I got your name wrong!
Now if we could just get some cold weather.

Take her out to dinner and buy jewelry. Make sure the jewelry can be made into lures just in case things don't work out! Congrats on your 56 years.

Lots of open water and rotten ice on grand lake st marys right now. It is not looking good for the 2nd season in a row. Forecast not looking promising either. Don't shoot the messenger! I apologize for the poor quality picture, not much light when i got home. Safety island in the background.

Highs in the mid 40's and lows at or above freezing for the grand lake area does not make much ice! I may have jinxed us by getting she shanty out and insulation water lines under the house. This icefishing season is not looking good.
