I wanted to let everybody know that Reel Sport Fishing Charters will be offering a ice taxi on Lake Erie if there's safe ice. Check them out on Facebook. I know I will be trying them out. I did a lot of walking last year.
-
ah man that would be nice, I might have 2 look into that , walking is too rough for this old guy
-
Yep walked it last year and it wasnt fun but worth it! A taxi would be money well spent.
-
I will be using the service for sure. Maybe we can get a group together for a day trip. He said he has 6 drivers and you can take all the gear you want.
-
Also they do guided trips and when you use the taxi service they set you up in the same area where they are guiding. So there will be fish in the area.
-
I like that idea, come on ice
-
I hope the big lake ices up really well again this year. I would love to do another trip and using a taxi service to get to the fishing grounds sounds like a great idea. I'll look them up and keep checking back for a possible group trip.
-
aNY IDEA OF WHAT THE RIDE COST IS ?
-
I messaged them on facebook with some questions, including cost. I'll report back if they answer.
-
It is $50 round trip. Not a price I would want to pay everyday but well worth a couple trips out. You can take all the gear you want even 2 man flip shanties. They will set you up near there guided trips. They walk around and make sure everybody is catching fish. And if your not they show you how. They are the only licensed ice taxi on Lake Erie. Can't wait for ice!!!
-
Me neither! How do they get you out there, an air boat?
-
They have utility vehicles that they drag dog sleds and tub sleds behind. Think we should get a group together and try them out. They have six drivers!!
-
Waiting on reply on how many people they can take out at once.
Last year they took out some of the USA ice fishing team and the Linder boys!!
-
I'd be in. Let me know what's up and when everyone's thinking. I've never been on main lake ice. I've done panfish in the bays and harbors and that's it. An ice trip would be awesome!
-
If we can get the right date I'm sure Dave would be interested!
-
I assume that's 50 per person and not just for the trip maybe with 2 people ....
-
Per person.
-
A phn nmbr available
-

erie rocks ;D ;D ;D ;D I hope to go when it gets good ,

They run a nice operation but the "Only Licensed Taxi " is a far reach . Anyone with a ATV, UTV, or Snowmobile can run a taxi out there .The only license you need to be an ice guide is a 50.00 license from the DNR .Had a friend book with them twice to have his trips cancelled because the guide told him he had a plow business as well and had to plow .Seen them out there several times last year and they were catching fish along with everyone else . Guess they had posted the ice went to heck and told people to stay off, but the season lasted 2 more weeks
Advertising with "Only " in it does not sound good .
-
Just letting people know there are options for those of us that have to walk out!
-
$50 bucks isn't bad price. Seems like a lot going on and could get pretty sketchy if something goes wrong though.
-
I'm with slabslayer... never ice fished Erie, but I'd love to try... and as an added bonus get to meet some OGF'ers
-
IFO-ers :)
-
Be careful with these guys. I've been seeing some poor reports on fishing with them and how they conduct business.
-
Thanks for the heads up on these guys, I was wondering what happened to this service, not many posts on it since it started a few months ago!
-
I went out with reel sport charters 1/28/2015 and they did OK for just starting out. It was a tough bite but we all marked fish. My only complaint was having to quit fishing too early to head back to camp Perry.
-
their facebook page is gone now for the ice fishing . Lots of bad things being said about them on many different pages. Glad you had a decent time .
In my opinion , you dont take people out for money until you know what your doing plain and simple . On Erie hard water , death can be only a step away . Forgetting people out there that paid you is not a good way to gain trust and customers.
-
I would be in as I have never ice fished Erie. It would also be a good a opportunity to meet some of you. There was another Taxi listed on OGF but it was a little more pricey... I believe $65 each.

Hello All:
I have been following a lot of post about the only Licensed Ice Taxi on Lake Erie. There is no such License.
If any one is looking for a Licensed Ice Guide please look at the link
attached.
