Lure jewlery not so far fetched.....Got my wife ear rings made by NORTHLAND and they utilize spinner rig blades afixed on gold ear wires.................and where ever she wears them....all the other women, as well as lots of the guys are captivated with them and most dont believe me when I tell them that parts of them were made to catch fish.....Might just consider making some out of the smaller jiggin spoons.....of course....minus the hooks.....

Way to go Jonny !!!!! Really luv your pic. of the "Crappie's" you caught.....Wait a minute, just re-looked at your pic. and realized that I haven't seen any fish of my own pulled thru a hole in the ice.... this season and mistakenly thought your "Gill's" might be crappies......Man, I guess I need an ICE fix worse than I thought......Really glad for ya that ya got to slip up north and pop a few........be safe and enjoy..........

Shoreline weedbeds in 5 to 10 feet of water......are my favorite early season spots .Working the deeper edges on bright days and fishing open pockets or right in the weeds on over cast days, or low light hours of the day by fishing the shallower depths. I have local lakes that have large flats with weeds that hold fish in those same depth ranges all winter ....Mogadore Res. is just such one of these lakes.....We even begin the season at the extreme eastern part of this lake and will (first ice also takes hold here also) fish water thats only 3 to 4 feet.......Water is usually very clear....fish can be very spooky under those conditions, so pre-drilling a few holes helps alot......but when it's on.....the type of sight fishing this presents......is just what caused me into getting hooked on this sport over 50 years ago.....Getting to do any type of ice fishing by sight fishing.... is the very best teacher on just how fish react to different presentations........Thats what has made fishing with the camera so cool.....but to me, the camera will never/ever match seeing a fish only a short distance under the ice (in crystal clear water) as it ponders if to grab your presentation or not. Also the greener the weeds you can find, usually the better the fish use those areas..........

fishintechnician ends his post with "gets in your blood then your hooked for life".....GUESS YOU COULD SAY THAT I'M A PRODUCT OF THAT TRAIN OF THOUGHT.......I first went on the ice in 1958 and have been on ice some where every year since and hope that the good lord allows this to continue for a while. So, I guess that I can be also labeled as a first class ice fishing addict of sorts....Ah yes....being an "ICE WALKER" has it's own brand of a reward system....As always... I wish each and everyone of you a "SAFE AND ENJOYABLE ICE SEASON.

David...Glad to hear this about your unit being fixed so quickly...I also have found that vexilar has a top rated service dept. thru my own research and other experiences....They are real work horses and very reliable......I'm fishing a HD22 this season and as they only shipped them out so late last ice season....that mine was purchased when they finally were shipped and I only got to put about less than 10 hours on it....before last seasons ice, came to a quick halt....So it's still almost like brand new and I'm itchin to get it back out on that "hardwater" as are so many others. Hope to get to share some ice time with you this season............jON sR.

Scott and Jessie......Funny just how much we all take so very much at face value.....and expect tomorrow to pretty much be the same as what life thru at us today... with very little change. That is, until a really big event takes place in our lives..... that totally lets us know just how frail we really are....I have also suffered one of those such events and thats why I 'm sending you both my deepest blessings and prayers (as so very many did for me a while back) I'm a total beliver, that these do help in ones healing process........So God Bless and stay strong and true to yourselves..........

General Discussion / LAST ONE OFF THE ICE
« on: February 24, 2011, 12:57:51 PM »
Will the last person to leave the ice.....Please turn out the light.....Sadly it's very/very close to the end.For lots of guy's.... it's totally over already.......I'm still in hopes that there will be at least ONE more (SAFE CONDITION"S) trip with my favorite icing buddy.......He was out two evenings ago and things were still fishable (private lake) and plenty of ice....The biggest kicker is this new set of storms headed our way......More water, either rain or lots of snow...just might find me reaching for the switch.......We ( my friends and I) have all become even more safety minded and have enjoyed a personal sence of well being in our choice to fish this entire season with the Arctic Armour Suits......Nothing is totally fool proof when you start throwing in variables......but doing all you can to at least tip the scales in your favor...don't hurt either..... EVERY NEW SEASON FINDS SOMEONE BEING THE FIRST ONE OUT ON THE ICE IN THEIR AREA AND SOMEONE ALSO BECOMES THE VERY LAST TO EXIT THE ICE.......So if it's you and not me......Please remember the LIGHT DEAL.... Until next season.... GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS and may the upcoming softwater season.... find you healthy/happy/and catchin plenty of your favorite fish............
