Title: Ice Conditions
Post by: LeeinOH on January 15, 2014, 07:37:44 PM
Went to Mosquito this afternoon to check the ice.  Good ice in the main body.  Still thawed 4-5' from shore, but skimmed over.  Ice was 4-5" 50 yards from shore.

This was at the East side 305 boat ramp near Lakeside tackle shop.

I'll be on the ice tomorrow afternoon!!!!

Went out from 2-6 pm not far from the first buoy northwest off of the 305 ramp on the East side of the lake.  Caught a few nice perch and a small walleye on a gold VIBE just off of the bottom in 17' of water.

WINDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ice was just fine. 5" but you still have to be careful getting on it from shore.

I havent been to skeeter in a couple of weeks, as I went to Saginaw last weekend and stayed home this weekend to get my sled ready for Erie next weekend but last time I was out it was a solid 6". Im guessing by next weekend it would be close to 9 / 10", Its power auger time for sure for me. Im to old to old to drill through foot thick ice. Lol . Buddys of mine been out with reports of small eyes and decent perch being caught. Good luck

Ice was in good condition on sunday for the tournament with lots of people fishing it, but always check the ice for yourself on the way out, as for where the fish are alot of people fishing the cemetery, I got into some nice perch toward the dam in 18-20 fow!

Went off the cemetery before dawn. Snow on the ice made it a difficult walk even with skis on the sled. A few panfish. Then I had to leave.  Ice was 5" about 60 yards out.
