Hi guy's,
I do not have any sporting events to attend on Saturday's in December so all Dock tournaments are on Saturday's in December.
I have spoken to a lot of guys and it looks like we will have the biggest turn out of the season.
IFO will also be donating a Jason Mitchell rod to the winner of the crappie pot.
Please read the whole post as i have added a few new rules.
Here are the dates for the December Dock tournaments at Alum.
December 15th at Alum Creel Marina
December 22nd at Alum Creel Marina
December 29th at Alum Creel Marina
Check in starts at 7:30 am.
Tournament Starts at 8:00AM and the weigh in is at 2PM.
Entry Fee $15 per man. Individual tournament.
Biggest Crappie wins $5 per entry.
Biggest Saugeye or Walleye wins $5 per entry.
$5 goes to help cover IFO website costs.
In addition each angler will win a product prize from our sponsors for entering.
Rules- We will be weighing your largest fish per species and the largest fish per species wins that pot. If there is a tie than we will go to the anglers second heaviest fish.
If a certain species is not caught that day than we will pay a second place spot for the pot.
2 rods can be fished at one time. No casting allowed. Only a vertical presentation. We prefer using ice fish gear but long rods are ok as long as no casting is made.
The docks are off limits to pre fishing or scouting starting at 12:00 pm the night before the event.
You cannot enter the docks the morning of the tournament until after checking in and rules meeting. I will release everyone to enter the docks. You can set up but cannot use your vex or have a pole in the water until i call start.
We always have fun with these events until safe ice.
We will hold the tournaments unless they are calling for severe rain.
I will try to post or email if tournament is canceled. You can also give me a call.
Everyone is welcome!

Sorry about that Salmonid,
We had a lot of guys who couldn't make Sundays and i am free now on Saturday's so i decided to offer some on Saturday's for those guy's.
-
I am wanting to get in on the tournaments, but i do have to work this weekend. I think this would be a great opportunity to meet some members and break out the ice tackle. Is all the fishing done from the docks? And is this at the main launch?
-
yes it is all done from the docks. only vertical fishing allowed. and it is at the marina.....hope to see you sat...i know im looking foward to it i hope its nice.
-
I have never been to one of these events and they look to be fun I am going to try and getto the 29th turny between work and first responder classes makes for a long month and I think that day would be a nice day to relax then jet home for work.
Does anyone have the address for the marina so I can get directions?
-

hope it stays nice for tomorow...see you guys at alum in the morning
-
From what I can see on the map it says it's not going to rain till 3pm hope it stays that way for you all.
-
How many showed up today. I'm defiantly going next week. Ill be bring a group with me.
-
Dont know the exact number rough guess 13-14,fishing was a little tough and spotty.did see some nice fish weighed in
-
yea the winning crappie was 0.90 lb and the winning saugeye was around 1.80,....very nice fish
-
Was their a lot of action?
-
the bite was slow and hard to get but i think most of the people up there caught a few crappie each that were keepers...it seemed like the majority of crappie weighed in were around 0.50 lbs....not bad
the bite will only get better the colder it gets ...next week should be a good time and i hope the bigger crappie and saugeye start moving in...
-
The fish were few and far between and very finicky,a tough day on the water with few results
-
I will be coming to the Dec 21 tourney. I also will be bringing some tip ups with me. If your wanting one please pm me with your name and number and ill put your name on it. At the Fin ice show I only took 4 and sold them within the first hour. So let me know.
-
I think the final number was 18 guys! a great turnout, fishing was decent early and then started to crap out mid tourney but at least for me picked up late, I ended up with 11 keeper crappies and several folks I saw had at least that many keepers as well, I think at least 3 saugeyes were weighed in with the winning fish around 18" Im guessing, a nice fish!

Before we were aloud to go out on the docks we spotted a Muskie jump . That is probibly some of the reason the bite was slow. With Mr Toothy hanging around . Every Crappie I caught was tight to the bottom. But I still had a great time .
-
I am trying to get off work so for next Sat I need to get my ice fishing fix real soon just hope that I can get out of bed early enough to make the hr and a half drive down there and still find my land marks.
-
i gotta work everyday this week....come on sat im ready to fish.... ;D
-
Good luck to all my boss gave me the big NO you can't have off guess iwill wait till we get ice to venture out.
-
Calling for high wind. How bad do you think it will hurt the fishing?
-
yea thats stinks and the winds shouldn't hurt anything....it'll just be colder
-
The front coming through will drive up the barometer and make the fishing more difficult, they will be very picky feeders.
-
Also snow is in the forecast and Dock conditions will become a factor, safety first.
-
The front coming through will drive up the barometer and make the fishing more difficult, they will be very picky feeders.
But Saturday it should be rising right? Or is it to soon. I need to get a barometer. Anyone knows who sells them?
-
If you have a smart phone you can download apps that have the barometer other wise you can prob find it online.
-
Are you forgetting that we are in Ohio also its not Saturday yet. The forecast is already changing . Tis the season .
-
I know we are all hoping for ice by Jan but any thoughts of dates in Jan that you are thinking of having the dock tournaments?
-
so sat looks a whole lot better now 22mph winds and 10% chance of snow...with highs in in the 36 deg...not bad considering what they were calling for two days ago....but its ohio and thatll prob change again by friday night....
-

-

-
Thanks for keeping us posted. I like to see ice fishermen working together. If any other fishers coming from different areas, keep us posted.
-
Fishing was slow ,I was skunked but still enjoyed the day. My wife thanks everyone for the fish I was given. I want to wish everyone a very merry Xmas and a happy new year.
-
I guess the old saying good things come to those who wait...
I am off work sat and my wife is too now time for my first dock fishing tournament or maybe hoping we have ice to fish on instead. Anyone know if there is any ice yet or will we be doing the docks?
-
i would plan on dock fishing. there may be some ice. not enough to walk on, or even need an auger for though. it's a blast though. i won't be able to make it this saturday. having Christmas with my kids. ya'll have fun. IF the weatherman is right, it won't be long, maybe a week, and we'll be chillin and drillin.
-
Can't make this Saturday ,but I hope the fish are bitting for everyone .36 degrees for the high and stabil conditions should be a good day on the docks. Have fun.
-
yep i cant make it either but i hope the fish are biting good
-
