Killdeer Reservoir / Re: Water level
« on: January 21, 2015, 09:39:02 AM »
Repair....They( division of water) will never return the reservoir to the glory she once was.

Long time ago there was discusion of them reducing the levels to where they are now and eventually basically making it a marsh by the time they were done.
Honestly though, never thought they would do it. They appear to be heading in that direction now after all these years.

Killdeer Reservoir / Water level

All,

This is an FYI:
Water level is the lowest i have ever seen.
Many of the structures are exposed thru the ice.

Some of us diehards are still ice fishing , just not in this state.
While others have hung up thier hats weeks ago some of us are still on the
Hardwater chasing the next bite because we live for the hard water and
Will follow it as far as we can.
It's been a epic season one too remember for a long time. Fished a bunch
Of new water, learned new techniques from fellow tourney fishermen
And made some new tourney friends.
I'll hang my "hat" up here I a few weeks  ;) until then
Stay dry!

General Discussion / Atv tires for ice fishing
« on: February 16, 2014, 11:04:44 PM »
Anyone have advice for new tires for quad that's primary function is
Ice fishing? Mine is a 2wd unit, with chains on the rear. So far so good
Until this past Saturdays trip at crane, I apparently hit something just right and put a 1/4" hole right I'm the center on one of my front tires. Good thing I put slime
In all of my atv tires as an insurance policy, because it paid off.
We fished al day until dark, didn't notice it was a little low until it was on
The trailer.
Anyhow looking to replace the fronts, any suggestions?

Lake Erie / Need info- crane
« on: February 14, 2014, 07:52:14 PM »
All,

I need to know from those who actually fished
Crane today what the crack was like?
We have a few who want to head out there tomorrow
And have asked me about the crack.
I fished Catawba today so I don't know.
Catawba report - didn't get on fish until 26ft of water,1.8m north/northeast towards islands.
Raps where choice, slow fished. No aggressive bites today.

Lake Erie / Re: Crane Creek Eyes

There is always a "big" crack out there. Depending on the wind/current it shifts.
If you plan on crossing that crack, it is advised to have a set of planks but more importantly Use common sense and watch the weather.
If your not a regular and not with someone who knows that part of the lake then don't cross it your first time there.

Me and my buddies were out today, out of crane. We pulled a 5 man limit majority good eaters with a few heavyset in the mix . 25ft - 3.6nm from truck.
Word of caution- crack opened today, we had a little trouble getting back across the way we went out. Raps were hot later in the day.

Now for the guy asking about two wheel with chains, that's what I run and did not get stuck once. There will be spots that will bog you down but it's not all doom and gloom.

Starting to figure it out Today but was tough, we managed a few.
Wind didn't kick to full gale until late morning.
Water clarity isn't bad.

Seen more teams out today, fully expect a full house tomorrow .

Team 45 representing Ohio reporting, arrived up here today. Did some pre-fishing today with more fun in the wind tomorrow!
Had a good chat with a Clam sponsored naifc team from wisconsin. Good fellas to talk too.
14" of ice was the average I was finding today, fish were biting but not aggressive.
More to follow.

General Discussion / Re: advice for Michigan ice fishing trip
« on: December 26, 2013, 08:15:46 PM »
My fiancee and i are currently up at fletchers pond, outside of hillman michigan. We drove up yesterday and fished this morning. this morning we caught 3 bass over 16 in. and a nice 32" pike.
Were going to be here until the 1st as were getting married on the Ice in-front of Jacks Landing on Saturday.
13" of ice- down side there is just as much snow as there is ice on the lake. a lot of water coming up because of the snow. major slush in the area we were fishing.
recommend 4x4 ORV or snowmobile if your not renting a shanty from anyone.
There is single digits predicted for Sunday night and thru much of early next week so that should help freeze up the slush zone.
Fletchers is a pike / bass lake, panfish can be had but not the top target fish, nor easy to locate.
Bass season closes dec 31st.
where ever you go, you have a good time!
