All the sudden after 24 years my wife decides she wants to park her car in the garage. For 24 years she has said "That garage is your house and this is mine" For 24 years I've had a fishing section, a woodworking section, a hunting reloading hobby section and a fix what needs to be fixed section. But this year she bought a brand spanking new car after saying she never would. I was prepared. I saw the future. I knew if she got that space next would come a garden section, a sewing section and pastel colors on the walls. So I was ready. I hung my Ice augers without the blade covers on the wall by the garage door. On the other side were tools all with sharpened blades hung above so grandkids can't get to them, I tell her. My shanties hang above where a car would be parked and I can't be held responsible if something fell on her car. Afterall I drive a beat up 97 GMC truck. It wouldn't be the last thing to fall om my truck. I could see the look of horror on her face as she walked into the garage after all these years. I guess I don't have to tell you do I. My shanties are on the floor at the garage door next to them are augers and ice rods tip-ups and all my ice gear. It takes up a car space but it's still all mine.....

There is an old saying in marriage "what is mine is mine and what is yours is mine" i guess it is her space to park her car now not your fishing space! ;)

I think I'm going to build a fishing shed.

I'll only give her the parking space if I can have her play room for my reloading equipment.

That's my life too. Her car and my Ranger bass boat are inside and my truck is out.

I got into it with my wife in the fall and said ok all the fishing stuff and ATV will go in the shed but that is mine and all the knick nacks and pots and yard trinkets will now be in the garage. She agreed so then I had an electrician run power to the shed and outlets and romex when she was at work. Fixed her real good and have another man cave!

LMFAO been there done that bud. at one point i gave in. I learned if momma aint happy aint no one happy, than i got more to stuff to fill the empty spots in the garage. Needless to say its fun to argue bout the garage. Ive been married only 4yrs and lots of learning to come. 4 her lol.

One day I took off work and built and carpeted a room in the unfinished side of my basement. Now I have a nice fishing workshop. Imagine her surprise to come home and see a new room in the basement.

Its amazing how much space you need for fishing equipment and then heaven forbid if you ice fish also that is a whole another process of lures, rods, jigs, auger, shelter, heater, etc.

The best thing about the room is now I but new stuff, wait until she's gone, sneak it into my room and she can't tell what's new and what's been in there for years! :D ;D

Worst is when you get caught red handed at the door taking a package from UPS. What is that and how much did it cost? Always go to the $4.99 card or $6.59 to mix her up.

LOL been there done that! I've gone as far as having some packages shipped to my Grandma's house with strict instruction not to tell on me !! I LOVE MY GRANDMA ;D

I understand the sneaking, and the comment if momma ain't happy. I snuck a SKS into the closet last week. She'd never understand the investment excuse. For years when I planned on doing something she wouldn't like I learned to bring her something a few days ahead of time, then cooked dinner or did some of her chores to butter her up. It took about 12 years before she caught on or let me know she knew( a tip for those who are new to wedded bliss}. But once the jig was up I had to start sneaking things in. She does the same its a game to see if we notice. I watch for QVC ;packages since thats her weakness. I've learned to ship to my buds house when the need arises. It's a shame we have to do this but since they burnt their bras it's all been downhill for men. If we think it's bad now wait till they put a woman in the whitehouse.

This thread gets better and better! I even gave kids in the neighborhood ice fishing rods as gifts all wrapped and everything to cover the fact I bought better Jason Mitchell rods. Honey its out of kindness and teaching kids to fish for a lifetime.

Its funny cause she will come home with a bag from a department store and I am like what is that? Oh I had to get these new shoes they were on sale and so was this skirt. I got such a great deal! Really like the department store is giving stuff away.......

My wife say's everything was 50% off and how much she saved me. I tell her she would have saved me a lot more if she hadnt bought anything ;D
I cant complain, she has alway's supported my fishing as long as the bills get paid.
The garage thing is a different story. I have so much stuff that there is only a small spot for her to get into the garage.

You guys need to keep watching this site. There may be some good deals on here soon. My wife wants a new car and before that happens in a month there will be another large box that says power pole. You can't have just one!! There may be an estate sale following my untimely demise! ;D

I've been known when caught with Fed-X packages to say "Honey it's just something I'm putting away for you for next Christmas or birthday or anniversary which ever comes first. They tend not to look at that time but you'll see them sneaking around for a few days afterwards trying to find it.

Yeah, some guys would love to run of on a weekend with their mistress. I'd rather run off with my shanty or boat.

Like Snowcone , my wife love fish and loves to shop so I get told to go fishing . As long as I bring home some fish for her and take her shopping once in awhile I'm good to go .

I will admit that I have a very good wife. She really doesn't say anything when boxes start showing up or I'm walking in with bags from the bait shops or gander or the fin. She just ask what I got and likes to check it out. She really loves when I walk in with a bunch of 9mm ammo. That is a good way to sneak some things through. She just sees the ammo and is ready to go shooting. She says as long as the bills are paid and the kids have what they need and food on the table she doesn't mind me getting the things I need. She knows that Im on the computer researching everything I buy for hrs on end and making phone calls before I buy so I can get the best deal and the right item that I'm looking for. I really don't have any other hobbys then ice fishing so most my time and money goes to that. I always just say that I could be spending that money in the bars drinkin it away or out doing Moron but at least with my ice gear I have something to show for it and it helps me put food on the table. She knows its all b.s. and laughs at me but she always supports me 100% in everything I do. I know that I'm extreamly lucky to have a woman like her. The best thing is that when I get home from being on the lake all day she has the cutting board and fillet knives out and ready. She will tell me to just go sit on the couch and watch TV and she will clean the fish cause I been out all day fishing and I should take a break. I never do it but she always helps me clean and package them. Like I said I couldn't have found a better woman.

Agreed, she is a good wife. Mine takes great care of me but hates to spend money or go shopping. Which is good in some ways, but I'm the opposite, can't take it with you. At least we balance each other out.

Well Father Bob said I told a white lie and that is not a sin but looked down upon for it is not living the life of Christ. White lies can lead to sins so you need to change your ways. Not sure what a white lie is so I am going to press on and continue my ways. Its tough to teach an old dog new tricks and I may just get a P.O. BOX to support the Postal Service that is hurting and then the items can be snuck home in the truck. Running out to get the kids milk honey hit the P.O. BOX and bingo look at this shipment I received.

hwj & slabslayer, my wife is a combo of your wives. mine hates to go shopping physically (loves to do it on the computer though). luckily it's not too often. she doesn't mind me doing what i want to do when i want to do it. she has the freedom to do the same. just wish she would clean my fish. she even told me she would go ice fishing with me once if she goes, i imagine once will be enough. i can see her in my shanty with her portable tv and heater on high. as long as she likes going to erie with me thats fine with me. she gets to park her car in the garage but i have 2 ice shacks on 1 side & my snowmobile on the other so thats about all the room she can have. all in all i'm lucky to have her. will celebrate 25 years this year & as always she won't expect a present. now thats a good woman.
