Title: Chautauqua Lake, NY
Post by: fishsee5 on January 07, 2014, 09:03:05 AM
Has anyone ever fished Chautaqua? Headed up in a few weeks and advice and pointers would be greatly appreciated. Targeting crappie, perch and eyes. Thanks!

Fish Chautauqua the past weekend. Saturday we received 10+ inches of snow and wind was blowing 30mph, it was a complete blizzard. We had 8 guys in our group and fished the weed bed in Mayville on Saturday. Caught easily 600+ gills and perch Saturday alone and had a few crappie mixed in. Caught most fish on waxies in 8ft of water. Caught some nice gills but all perch seemed to be in the 5-7in range with a few in the 8-9in range. Sunday morning we fished off of Long Point. Some guys fished in 30ft of water while I fished 48ft. Fishing was slower but seemed to catch some bigger fish. The trip was a blast even though we caught a lot of dinks. All in all we caught a good 700-800 fish in the 2 days of fishing. Ice was a good 12-14in. People had quads and snowmobiles on the ice, even saw a jeep drive out.
