The island is long but the opportunities to fish are not. Instead of looking at a lake map to find where fish would be at today, I used my spud bar map to figure out where I could stand without risking my life.
Thought I would be good at the 2nd or 3rd pull off with the cold temps but spud bar went through on first and second strike at 2nd pull off and 3rd. 2nd pull off west side is all milky...which usually is the stronger of the two sides....I was disappointed to fish the first pull off with the masses all chasing 2 inch blue gill in 2 inches of water on 2 inches of ice...but it was nice to get out and was a nice surprise to catch one nice crappie....see pic...this guy was a first time ice fishing Virgin when he caught this monster of a crappie...only one that was worthy of a trip home so it punched it's ticket back to the lake.
I would say that with 9 degree temps at Indian Lake today and tomorrow overnight we should be able to fish more spots...but I have said that before and to my dismay, it just doesn't happen.
Caught in back in 4 fow 1 foot off bottom with polish fiskas jigs (white) tipped with a wax worm...aver ice depth 3 inches - none of it was clear.
