Title: Ice Yaks?
Post by: MDBuckeye on February 01, 2016, 09:12:25 AM
I went across the bridge at Howard road on Saturday evening and saw a couple guys out on yaks on what was left of the ice.  Anyone here?  If so how was the fishing?  I've fished that area in the past on the ice and done ok.

Also saw a bunch of guys on the Howard rd bridge yesterday evening close to dark fishing.  I would guess they are crappie fishing.

Good luck and stay dry!

I've done it with my flat bottom Jon boat on small ponds before. Worked fine, just really tough to move around. Don't think I'd do it on a big body of water if I had to go any distance from shore. But I did get fish though.

Alum isn't real wide up by Howard road and I guess with a bit of friction from the ice you wouldn't need an anchor.  I was just kinda shocked to see them out there I guess.
