General Discussion / Re: Live nightcrawlers
« on: December 19, 2020, 05:31:47 PM »
I have used worms/crawlers a couple times because I had some left over from soft water abd just wanted to use them up. Got to keep them warm just like waxies. I have caught a few gills and perch on them so they do work.

Glad I didn't give my first thought as my answer I might not have won.

My first thought was: Bring Fat Bob to check the ice, then follow him. ;D ;D ;D

First and foremost NEVER trust the ice just because someone else said it is safe, ALWAYS check it yourself.

Out Of State Ice Fishing Trips / Re: Where are you thinking for 2020?
« on: December 16, 2020, 08:51:13 PM »
Still looking at Hubbard, Saginaw and Chautauqua for a long trip. Due to the possible travel restrictions am considering day trips to Presque and Lake Arthur in NW PA. Can buy license online and take every thing you need with you including bait so no need for local contact.

I know you have to change the pic to a GIF pic to post as the site doesn't seem to like any other formats. Still better than another site I visit that in order to post pics you have to first download them to something like Pinterst or a site like it.

Ice Gear for Sale / Re: Gruv jig boxes and venom inferno tackle
« on: December 15, 2020, 08:41:02 PM »
Bring what you have to the tournament Saturday. I barely have any ice gear (compared to Quackpot) so I probably could find a couple things I need (want).

General Discussion / Re: Nimisila—2020/2021 Drawdown Info
« on: December 11, 2020, 08:39:18 PM »
Yea I should have posted this info back at beginning of November when they first did the drawdown but I forgot. Campground cove will be different as most of it is normally 6 fow and the lake is down about 2.5 feet. Though that could be good as it will probably concentrate the fish in the deep channel.

General Discussion / Re: my best tungsten jig - set up
« on: December 09, 2020, 01:56:37 PM »
Seen an interesting study done on tungsten jigs. It was conducted using a 10 ft tube of water. It compared a tungsten jig to a lead jig of the same weight. It showed the tungsten jig beat the lead jig to the bottom of the 10 ft tube by only a tenth of a second,

In NEO not only is Mark's bait near West Branch but he is also one of the best when it comes to ice gear.

Is Tall Tales the one just north of 62 on 225?

For all of you who plan on attending the dock tournaments plan on catching mudpuppies again. There hasn't been one caught since Nate last attended. Just saying. ;D ;D ;D

Nate it was me that mentioned other sites and I never said they dealt with fishing. I am on a couple sites such as one for Dumfries Scotland and one on British history among others that deal with subjects you would never find on a fishing/outdoor site.

Flares sound like a good idea especially on bigger lakes like Skeeter or lakes where you may not know the landmarks. My rope has an anchor clasp on it that add weight for throwing.
