Fished buckeye this afternoon. Place was packed. probably 50 to 60 huts up. Ice was clear 5.5" People were fishing all the way to Cranbury. I tried a new spot. I didn't like it. Caught 2 small saugeyes. Only fish I marked. 3.5' of water. Next time I will hit the deeper spot over by Cranberry. Saw one nice one caught around 4:30 guy said he had been there since 10:00 am and it was the only fish he caught.

One of my best friends works at Silver Creek Metro Park. I just called him and as per the Manager of the Park , Ice fishing is allowed. He said the Pond has many springs though so be sure to spud while moving about. He also said you can ice fish off of the 90' dock. So there you go.

Alum Creek Dock Tournaments / What docks are these held on at alum?

Exactly what docks are these held on at Alum? I went there to check it out Tues. Nov. 22 PM. I put the 4000 address in my GPS but when it said I was there, there were no docks in sight so I kept going to the boat ramps and fished there. I noticed there were signs on the docks stating "no fishing from the docks" but I gave it a shot anyway. I fished from 3:45 to 6:30. 3 crappie, 2 shorts and a 10.5" all caught at dusk. Are these the docks the tournaments are held on? The Ranger drove by while I was there and said nothing. Please advised as I would like to come out this Sat. and fish the tourney maybe and I also don't want a ticket. Please advise. Thank you.

Shake fillets in gallon bag with some flour. Dip floured fish in egg wash (egg and milk) Then shake in bowl of crushed saltine crackers.

In college, Fish hatcheries/Wildlife major, we were taught in ponds less than 1 acre never to put a dink gill back after the pond had been established. On a larger and public body of water, not such a good idea in my opinion. On small ponds I fish I still put all dinks back unless the owner request otherwise. It's not up to me to make management decisions on their pond. If I owned the body of water I would do it. I have helped several friends implement management rules on their ponds with good results.
Ponds under 1 acre after first 3 years. Take bass under 12", for every 1lb of bass removed remove 4lb of gills. Never put dink gills back. Channel cats and Crappie were not recommended in ponds under 1 acre. That was over 25 years ago though so thinks might have changed.

I bought a 6' ground rod at Glens Surplus and a big 18" hammer type chisel at harbor freight and welded it to the last foot of the ground rod. Then I put some of the rubber wrap that you put on baseball bat handles where I hold it. I've been pretty happy with it. Not that heavy. Take 3 punches to go through 3" of ice.

Anybody checked buckeye ice yet? I was hoping to get out Friday as well but don't want to drive an hour and find out it's not fishable.

Has anyone checked Buckeye Ice yet? I was thinking of trying it Friday but don't want to drive an hour if we haven't got enough ice. Any info would be appreciated.
