My sled carries the auger in the bottom. It slides out the top rear of the sled once I unscrew the handle connector bolt from it's retaining block.
I just placed the auger in the bottom of the sled with the sharp blades turned sideways. Then slid 2 pieces of 2 / 3 against it in line with the slush blades. After screwing them to the bottom of the sled, I put 2 short pieces of furring strip against the auger shaft on opposite sides of the shaft. This keeps the auger from sliding from side to side. Mine is a 8" auger. Your auger size may need more than 2 x 3 pieces to slightly lift it from the sled.
The Auger connection bolt is gets screwed into a cross block that has a threaded hole in it.
Maybe you can rig something similar on top of your sled.
I have an extra cross to hold the Ice anchor speed wrench.
