Title: Stood on Ice 11-20-2014!
Post by: toadfish on November 20, 2014, 06:26:09 PM
I stood on the ice in a dead-end channel on the north side of GLSM on 11-20-2014.  Season is off to a great start!  Earliest I remember ice this thick this early, to bad 50's are in the forecast.  I did not have an auger or spud, but looked to be about 2.5-3" thick.  Prompted me to get the shanty out and possibly get out on the hard water Friday evening or Sat morning to get some crappies.

Be careful if you get out and carry your spud and pics to climb out, just in case.

I'm going to head over soon. I checked a channel today also and I caught nice crappies there just a week ago so hopefully they're still in there.

I am trying it 11-22-2014 in the morning, hopefully before the freezing rain/rain hits.  Beware, lots of variation in some channels I checked.  Anywhere from skim ice up to 5".

Best of luck to any who venture out for some November ice fishing in Ohio!
