Hey, went out of Catawba this morning walked out about 1.5 mile nw of the park.  First thing in the morning had a bunch of marks on the vex and nothing but fish chasing aggressively but wouldn't take it. Did get a couple of smacks on a green/gold #6 pimple but kept missing them. From what I heard the pack about 3 miles out were catching fish. Sw wind today and on the way back in the first crack off shore was only open a few inches. In the 5 spots I drilled. Ice was between 8-10" and clear. Plenty of trails to to follow and four wheerlers/sleds zipping around everywhere. Good luck! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info anywhere to start first if we go? Went out on erie today 1 mile out of Catawba. Landed one lost 3, 10" of ice. Kind of hard to go from that to a inland reservoir!

Thank you! I've never been out there and want to give it a try. How's the fishing been?

Yeah two weeks ago we fished outta catawba and pulled 18 only 2 were under 29"  and the rest were 8-10# range, no real hogs to brag about. We're do we put in at crane? And what depths are you fishing at? Thanks

So still 2 miles out of catawba and 4 outta crane? I've only fished  outta catawba. I was just concerned about crossing the cracks with quad after reading some of the reports is all

Yeah we were roughly 2 miles north of the miller ferry. We walked and it really wasn't that bad. It's was definitely a hike but obviously well worth it! The snow wasn't bad at all seeing how is was packed pretty well. Rickards bait shop told us to go 3 miles west of Catawba State Park but we didn't listen cause we saw the pack of guys only two miles north and that walk sounded better! Glad we didn't go west. Sunday my buddy went to the same spot and they got 5 using the same set up. I'll be back this weekend if work allows!

Sorry yeah the info is probably a good idea lol! We were in 28 fow using #5 sweetish pimples with a 3" red stinger and every hook was tipped with minnows. Green/gold and green/silver being the ticket. We didn't get fishing until 10:30 am cause we were trying to catch crappie in lorain with no luck and made the decision to try walleye up there until 8:30. We didn't hook our first fish until 12 lost it at the hole then landed one 15 minutes later. It got quiet till 2:00 and was nonstop till dark , lost as many as we landed and had a blast! Not bad for our first time walleye fishing though the ice! Ice was 14-16 inches where we were.
