Does Wind Chill Affect Ice Making Rate?

Just wondering if the wind chill has any affect on the ice making rate.  After there is sufficient ice to not break up when we get a big wind, does ice build faster with wind than when it is calm?

Nope. Wind chill has nothing to do with ice making.

A lot of wind can actually slow down ice making if the lake is open or partially open.

The simple answer is NO.

Direct from national weather service:
The only effect wind chill has on inanimate objects, such as car radiators and water pipes, is to shorten the amount of time for the object to cool. The inanimate object will not cool below the actual air temperature. For example, if the temperature outside is -5 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind chill temperature is -31 degrees Fahrenheit, then your car's radiator will not drop lower than -5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Great info and common sense if you think about it a little bit.
