Due to our water clarity i strongly recommend some type of sonar,a vex or a shodown.cameras are helpful but i think you will find better results with the other electronics.

First ice look to the shallow inlets and bays with lillypads or vegetations. Then as winter goes on look to holes or drop off stuctures. Every lake is different but that is a general guideline. Late ice the fish come back into the shallows. Typical panfish pattern.

One of the best ways to learn a new lake is with a handhelp GPS that has Navionics on it, or you can insert your chip to the unit. This will cut down your learning curve. Futurestrader's exactly right on panfish movement. And a flasher of some sort is VITAL!! It's the most important piece of equipment you'll take on the ice. Where are you located?

A lot of lakes are like that. I'm over around canton, sorry I can't help that much for your lakes.

If your on a tight budget I would look at a marcum troller 2.0. I love that little thing. It's a great flasher my kids to use.
