Clear Ice!!!!

I went out to the deep ponds near me that I fish when I cant get out and walked out to the middle! 3 inches here. First time I have ever been on clear ice like this before! Its like looking through glass. Gave me the feeling that this week of cold might make the ice season with a great base and the temps for next week are freezing as well! Ill be pulling the shanty out to the ponds tomorrow for some crappie and gills!

Leave the shanty home and travel light. You dont need that extra weight on 3 inch ice no matter how light you are. Be careful and enjoy yourself.

Im assuming there will be more ice made overnight but Ill be careful. At this rate with the cold we should have a great year

Im going to give tomorrow a try... Its only a 15 minute pull in to the ponds and I like being the first on the ice I was one of the first last year

The real fun is getting out onto the big public lakes, tomorrow is just a warm up

What part of ohio is this "clear ice" lol.
Here in Lorain County most of the water is wide open due to this pesky wind we have had.
We just need 1 day of single digit winds and everything will lock up.
