In the old days we used to use slip bobber rigs for pannies. Use the end of an old two piece rod and tape a small spinning reel to it. String up some 4LB test get the smallest slip bobber you can find and all you need is some ice lures bait and a hole. For $10 dollars you can get a pretty good mix of ice flies and teardrops. Jiggin raps and spoons will cost a lot more but you don't need that to get started. Some people like myself have a thousand dollars or more in ice fishing gear but you don't need that to start. Most people will let you borrow an auger or just find an old hole and use a spud bar. Send me a PM I'll help you out when I'm there.

I'll be there Sunday about 8:45. I guess the Dam bait shop open at 8:30 on the weekend. Does anyone know if they got their minnows in yet. They told me two weeks ago they should have them by now. I will try the state boat ramp area if possible.

Lowell Don't have any cat claws but I do have a friend that will be at the other end of that 50 foot rope. Plan on being there Sunday AM. I'll have a black pop up and should be in that area if the ice will let me. If the ice is bad I'll be in the marina with everyone else.

I'd be really interested in knowing what the ice is like walking off the state ramp as well. That's been a pretty good crappie area for me in the past. I suspect it should be good but I'd be really careful about getting too close to the polls.

Has anyone tried fishing the small bay next to the marina? I know that it has deep water and they seem to always be in there when the waters not hard. what's the ice thickness in there.
