4 to 5 in.clear ice,water clarity good,15 shanties,10 guys on buckets,stopped and picked up some meat(mags) got several hand gripper red ears and a bunch of smalls,9 crappies largest being 12 in.the bite really picked up 1 hr. before dark,then at dark seemed to die,left at 6:30 to get home for Cavs game.All fish were recycled back to the lake,going to try and get on somewhere else today.if not back to osp i guess.Fished 12 ft. of water,gills near bottom,crappies midway down.silver flash tail jig tipped with mags.

walked on ice at noon,fished till 4 got one crappie,ice 4 in. about 10 guys there no one setting the world on fire,only game in town for now. only one fish away from a complete skunk.

Went by nimo mon. 1-18 North end wide open blowing like lake erie,went to c-5 there is ice there,no body on it though,and i'm not gonna be the first one.Went back today 1-19 still could not get on,so headed for the only game in town,OSP.

Just make up your favorite fish batter,but use CORN flour instead of WHITE flour,has a very unique taste,and good,saw this in a old issue of outdoor life magazine.Most all grocery stores carry it.

Most of the forcasted snow for us,mon. and tues. is going to stay north of us,which should help the ice build here,yay.  Hoping to be on by wed.or thur.

Take a small road runner jig,remove the small split ring and spinner blade.Now tie to your line,next take a piece of leader 3ft. long and tie it to the small swivel where you removed split ring and blade,next tie a second jig to end of leader,bait with live minnows or your favorite plastics,now you can fish one jig near bottom,and the other will be 3ft. up from bottom,or anywhere in between,was working well for me last season,caught crappies on both jigs,no double headers though,but you could.Also no tangles like when you use a dropper.Give it a try works for me.

Saw a shanty on lake today at noon,a good ways out from the parking lot,can not give ice report,but i have to think it was shaky at best.open water on both sides of the road where culvert is.

Today I finally felt motivated enough to start getting my gear together for the upcoming gala extravaganza (ice) up till now,not so much,so I relined 5 reels,dug out the boots,boot dryer,heater,propane tanks,organized the jig box (again)took cover off shanty,etc.etc.you get the picture,so most of my ducks are in a row,and blazing at the bit to get out there and have at it.

Once we get the ice we need,where are you going first? I will be heading out to good old Nimisila,for crappies and gills,but i have plans of going to Sandusky Bay for some BIG crappies,when ice permits.

Went to the store to get Golden Dipt breading,was told they don't carry it anymore,so I got a bag of Drakes crispy fry mix,used it on some crappies and eyes,very good,can also be made into batter.Purchased it at GFS store.

From what I can see for the 10 day forecast,we should most likely have 4"of ice by Monday 1-18-2016,fingers crossed.

The temp is 10 deg. the wind chill is -2 deg.So is the lake making ice at the rate of 10 deg. or -2 deg?
