Drove around Portage Lakes  this morning. Even got out to the truck with the spud bar in an attempt to walk on the ice and check its thickness. FORGET IT!

All former access ice fishing shorelines have deteriorated.   Ya can't get on anywhere!

All lakes are ice covered with the exception of the south end  (Dam end/Comet Rd) of Nimisila. All the ice everywhere is a gray to dark gray color. It looks rotten.

Stopped in at Portage Lakes Bait & Tackle and talked to Ron Slater this morning too.  Biz sucks.  He could use some customers, as all the local bait shops are severely hurting these days.

yeah ice bucket , i did the same thing looked at wingfoot, springfield, mogadore, went accross milton and sad to say looks thawed out. if spring comes early and there is no ice the water should warm up faster and the walleye should move in the rivers early????????    oh well ,  never had a year that i didnt ice fish just a little   and im 60.....so sad :(
the time you spend fishing cannot be deducted from your life...

That's the spirit slab!  I'm thinking the bite will be hot in Feb.  None of that Zombie stare at my bait that usually happens to the gills in Feb.
Throwing ice cubes in the lake all summer long!
