Found good ice today north of 36/37. Managed two crappie and two dink gills. Had one flag pop. Spindle was still turning when I got to it. However, it stopped and dropped the bait. Must have smelled me coming. Marked a few fish that wouldn't take. I found no fish shallower than 12'.
Man, I want to fish somewhere tomorrow. Just not Alum. Any Columbus guys up for a road trip!

I checked a couple of spots yesterday as well. Off Berlin Station 3", cove south of Main office ranged from 4-6 with sloped bank ice (from lake being lowered) and severe erosion on underside of ice from flow. Ended up fishing New Galena Cove for about an hour. Caught one crappie and two dink gills in 10min., switched to an eye rod, went home alone!

I picked up one about an half hour after dark at the end of Plumb Rd. Put him down on the ice at 218yds from the duck blind I was calling from. OOPS, wrong site, thought some of you would get a kick out of it though. Wanted to get him in closer. Called him from the Marina. He came across pretty far north of me and that south wind let him bust me. He started back across and stopped for one last look (literally). Boy I took a real bad chance walking out on that uninspected ice to retreive him.

I fished Piedmont today. Didn't drive by SF took I-70. Ice was about 5-6" with alot of water and snow on top. Caught one eye on the roadbed about 2-3pm. Didn't mark another fish all evening.

You guys both did the right thing by not taking matters into your own hands. I just got off community control for taking matters into my hands. Laws are set up for the ignorant bearded clams that surround us. There's never a cop around until someone's getting some manners force fed to them.

You guys didn't miss anything by leaving early. I marked and caught nothing else after you guys left. Gave it one last try today. Marked a couple of fish around 5pm in the same area I had been working. No takers.
Just as I thought. My meathead dog does not listen! As we were coming off the ice toward the parking area we both looked up at the same time to see a 'yote standing on the lake about 50yds from shore on the next point south. Orion broke for it and chased him into the woods south of the lane before I could dig out my transmitter and hit him with a shock. He was so far off I could barely hear him yelp when it hit him.

So, how did you guys do. I'm the guy that stopped out to check conditions around lunch. I ended up hitting the lower end. Picked up one 17" saugeye and a big mudpuppy at sunset. I'll be giving it a go all day tomorrow if anybody wants to join in.
